Sealed Letter for Redpath - New Dunwarren

Warden Redpath!

During an expedition into the Ancient Arena level below the Bowels, I met a mutual aquaintance of ours - Glerin. After a mild disagreement, and some fighting, I am pleased to say that I have both the red and green keys we were looking for the past day.

Assemble your group! We'll have a look behind that door soon!

Roarin,

This is encouraging news. Your help has been invaluable, hopefully we'll be able to get to the heart of this damned tale by the end of the cycle.

I'll sharpen my blade.

Redpath.

A reply is sent:

Warden Redpath!

I took it upon myself to check behind the door so that we will know what will be required for our expedition when we enter. Judging from my experience, we will need myself, yourself, another warrior for safety's sake, a priest, and a scout skilled with opening locks.

I attach my notes on what lay beyond the doorway for your perusal:

Auxiliary Mausoleum 7A

Within New Dunwarren, secured behind a door that requires a peculiar combination of a green and a red key (once belonging to Blim Frindlespick and Glerin), is Auxiliary Mausoleum 7A.

Floorplans of Auxiliary Mausoleum 7A.

Immediately inside the Mausoleum proper is an aged stone tablet that reads as follows:

Auxiliary Mausoleum 7A

Caretakers: Blim Frindlespick, Machinist 107 Glerin Hinder, Machinist 108

Welcome

Also immediately inside the entryway is a large, rusted Type 4 Animatron designated BF4. BF4 is equipped with several artlebaums, all encapsulated within its arms; a large electrical artlebaum was wired directly to its power core for periodic discharge against intruders. A second was likely for throwing a spray of color against a foe. Finally, the third was likely intended to allow BF4 to percieve invisible foes that attempted to gain unauthorised entry to the mausoleum, such as grave robbers.

Down the hall, the first passage to the right enters into a large chamber with 4 sarcophagi and 10 coffins. Large Urns, likely once holding a fragrant substance to ward off the smell of decay are in each of the four corners. The room is lit by torchlight, suggesting that someone or something is still tending to the charges here.

Further travel down the hallway has you arrive at an unlocked doorway that enters into another large room. Five sarcophagi and two coffins arranged in the room around a statue of a being carrying a sphere of some type, standing upon a sun design engraved into the floor. The room is also lit by torchlight.

Continuing down the hall, you pass a locked doorway on the left-hand side that when examined, appears to not too complex. When the door was knocked upon, movement could be heard inside of the room, but when undisturbed, the room was silent. Outside of the door is another stone tablet, this one much newer and well-maintained then the one at the entrance that reads:

Quarters of the Current Caretaker: Atuaur Catuling

Please knock.

It is interesting to note that this name does not appear to be gnomish or svirfneblin in origin.

Finally, the hallway terminates in another large chamber, within which is a single sarcophagi inscribed with the numbers "101' on it's side. Considering the numbers attached to Blim and Glerin's names on the tablet near the entrance (107 and 108 respectively), it is likely that this sarcophagi contains the remains of Mechanist 101; most probably the leader or founder of the mechanists.

Throughout, the hallways were clean and without tracks. The only being encountered in any form was BF4, which appears to be inactive.

I cannot promise combat when we enter the mausoleum, nor can I promise that this will not merely be another loose end that leads us further towards whatever lies beneath New Dunwarren. We simply cannot know until we get into that locked room.

Yours sincerely,

Roarin Bilmfrickten Dunwarren Pathfinding Services LTD Room 12, Last Stand Inn Sanctuary

Roarin,

It is good to see you are keeping healt. I had thought mayhaps you were slain in some misadventure in the Machine. Times go worse as I write. They come in greater numbers than ever before, and our innocents are beggining to be amoung the slain. We have scant few blades, it is a slight relief none of our swordsman have yet been slain. Alas, The Baron had a scrape with death earlier. Things are grim.

Lathander light your path to us,

Redpath.
