Seeker Quilwen, Seeker Hall

A sealed letter addressed to "Seeker Quilwen" is left with Noli the Cook inside the Seeker Hall. It reads:

Hail Seeker Quilwen,

After an inquiry with the Cook and the Barkeep inside Seeker Hall, I was referred by them to speak with you. I asked them as I am asking you now - what has become of Seeker Monty Criler? I have heard he has been assassinated.

The reason I ask is that I had an unfortunate encounter at Sanctuary Gate with a female Seeker that I do not recall the name of. I was told in no uncertain terms that the Society had failed to help the Seekers in their time of great need; and that the Society had informed her that it would have nothing to do with the Seekers now or in future.

This is very disabling news to me. I was lucky enough to meet with Monty Criler not long ago, before he was reputedly murdered by former Councillor Elizabeth Dufrois (he obviously survived this attempt). During the meeting I had with Seeker Criler he expressed great interest in bridging the icy relations between the Society and the Seekers. I was greatly surprised to learn that this man was a Seeker, and that he felt that I would treat him with disdain. Also during the meeting, Criler reluctantly asked me for coin for he was dead broke. I gave him half of my gold as an act of faith between the Society and the Seekers, signalling to him that I would assist him in whatever way I could with his desire for the Seekers to be reintegrated into the Sanctuary Township. I travelled with him to an out of town merchant for some supplies and we left of friendly terms.

Unless I have read Criler's motivations and actions completely wrong, I would say that Criler was quite happy and surprised that I was willing to help him. My offer of friendship and aid extends to all Seekers. However, I cannot account (at present) for the actions of other Society members if they have made the Seekers feel unwelcome. I do know that the Seekers have provided invaluable scouting insights (map drafts) into the territories and environs that surround Sanctuary, that previous Society members have needed assistance traversing. I do not see why this sharing of knowledge and arms against commons foes cannot continue.

If you have any further questions about these matters, please contact me via the Society Chapterhouse in New Dunwarren, or if that is not possible leave word at the Sanctuary Library for me.

Yours in the spirit of new possibilities,

Ordinant Kepler Szul

Ordinant.

The Society of Ordered Minds refused to acknowledge the Seekers in our time of need. The Ordinant I spoke with stated that the Society would refuse to grant the Seekers any sort of official support stressing the fact that the Society did not wish to be “politically involved with anything.” The Ordinant also made the clear that the Society did not need the Seekers’ friendship, assistance or aid with any current or future matter, and that they were well sufficient with maps, information and so forth.

I find it hard to believe that the Society has changed their attitude, as well as I find it difficult to threat any approach from an Ordinant like yourself with anything other then the most casual civility when a long tradition of friendship was so abruptly brushed aside by your faction.

Seeker Monty was, most regrettably murdered, and before his death he made no mentioned of any conversation with you. If this is to be a pledge of help from the Society of the Ordered Minds, it has come too late.
