The Sanctuary Watch is in need of capable adventurers and citizens to enlist in its reserve force. The Watch has a long-standing tradition of maintaining a ready force of reservists to act as Deputies during times of crisis and war; these are men and women who do not have the ability to devote themselves full-time to the Watch, but who wish to serve their city in its greatest times of need. Throughout Sanctuary's history, reservists have bolstered the Watch's defense during critical battles, maintained order during periods of civil unrest, and given a lasting contribution to the safety and security of the city that they love.
Enlistment in the Reserves is not an enlistment into the Watch ranks. Reservists will have no power except when expressely activated and bestowed the rank of Deputy by a full Watch member. This activation will come during a time of war, crisis, or civil unrest. During an activation period, the reservist will serve as a Deputy of the Watch, acting under the orders and authority of a Private, Sergeant, or Lieutenant of the Watch. At the conclusion of the activation period, the reservists will be remanded to ordinary citizenship. Reservists must be willing to accept and carry out the orders of their superiors in the Watch.
Reservists will be trained by a member of the Sanctuary Watch, and instructed on the operation, fortification, and defense of all aspects of Sanctuary's interior and exterior. During an activation period, reservists may be granted access to equipment stores. Capable, committed service in the reserves, while not a position in the Watch, may serve as sufficient grounds for recruitment into the Watch, for those citizens who seek to devote themselves more fully to their city.
Adventurers of Sanctuary, you struggle daily against some of the greatest challenges that the Underdark brings to bear against mortals. You serve yourselves with distinction, valor, and honor. You are asked, however, to seek something more, a greater challenge-that of defending the people of this city that you call home, when they are in need of the valiant and the loyal. Serve as adventurers, and you may become a great warrior. Serve Sanctuary in her time of need, and you will become a hero.
