Drow culture

I need a link that gives a basis of what Drow Culture is like, (please don't post a super long one on this, just a damn link)

^-^

Best link ever. I loved it. Drow are (generally) very tender sexually for their partner, and often females like to be dominated by a male to feel what they can't feel in their own society. I mean, how much more information do you need to accuratly portray a race? Drow are actually really insecure, but those who show their insecurity quickly fall down the ladder. It's such an awesome thing. Of course, most probably got stolen from the new Sourcebook 'Drow of the Underdark', but that's okay!

Actuallly if anything the female drow would refuse to be dominated as they would picture the males as being inferior, check out the new book Drow of the Underdark as it gives you a great view of Drow Culture. Love among Drow is Rare as to be almost unheard of they mate for the purpose of producing offspring.

Also most are not insecure they strive for perfection and to hide imperfection as imperfection is seen as a weakness.. that is not insecurity as most Drow females clothing is revealling to show of there perfection. In relations with over drow the powerful take what they wand and the weaker bow thier heads and accept.

Seriously check the book out i can't recommend it enough.

I agree more with Coldburn's assessment. He nailed (no pun intended) the deeper psychology of the drow.

Actually the new book Drow of the Underdark agree more with Mikhail's view of Psychology of the drow. I'd post one or two of the things that are mentioned in the book but im not sure if that breaks copyright or not.

Sadly, Dilandau, you are wrong.

Drows just need a good hug.

I've had a hunch for years that they're all secretly CG as well, and that mindflayers are only evil because of deep unconscious issues with the parental figure who asexually spawned them.

Love knows no bounds between a Glabrezu and a Drow high priestess as they couple the glorious creature the "Draegloth!"

More Draegloth plz.

Hey if anyone disagrees with me just read the new book. Then take your disagrements to the wizard that lives on the coast after all it's his product.

Drow Life

I understand the new rules. If you read between the lines, the deeper psychology of the drow still stands. The new books just give you the obvious cultural norms. It requires a good bit of psychology to think of WHY the drow act the way they do. But, I guess 9lives, Coldburn, and I will sit quietly in the corner with our feelings of inadequacy and misogyny, waiting to take down the Matriarchal Priestesses of Lolth.

Damn I'm a tool...

Drow are so much deeper than that, Mikhail. Like Pup says, read through the lines. They have any inherint conflict within them, battling for self-preservation in society as opposed to innate desire to do differently. There's a reason Elves are Chaotic Good, but Drow society forces themselves to keep acting along, like sheep. I think there's also a reason Wizards of the Coast gave them this deeper, physchological background, because, let's be honest, there's nothing more fun than conflict within the character (They hand it to you on a plate!) and stereo-type bashing. Seriously. Zau only killed because he was insecure about his parental affection. Zau wanted them to love, and be proud of them, so he killed people. He actually was really sad on the inside.

Hey i have read between the lines and that's not what i am getting coldburn, maybe you all see something that i don't but all i can tell you is what is in the new book and that is what i have stated.. All Female Drow consider males to be inferior that is stated so many times as to be obvious.

*sighs and shrugs* Apparently nuance and subtext are best used by people who have everything explicitly spelled out for them.

Look, we were only saying that drow culture goes deeper than "Females dominate males","Drow are evil and cruel", and so forth. Those things are obvious. No one disputes them.

I really don't know how else to say it. The relationships between insecurity and arrogance, or "showing weakness" and fear, or the need to dominate and feeling weak/powerless, or secretly wanting to be controlled while actually being in control, are all normal psychological reactions. Being aware of them only makes your character more real and dynamic, rather than static, boring, and predictable.

Here's a useful link.

While mildly amusing, the trolling can end now. If you hop on IRC I can handle questions you might have about drow society and culture, Thomas.

Shame on the rest of you. -_-
