Sir or Madam,
My name is Roarin Bilmfrickten, master explorer of the Dunwarren Pathfinding Services company, and I write to you now in order to shed light on a matter of curiousity to me.
I seek information on the whereabouts, living or dead, of the author named Zav Carstain, as well as to purchase or read copies of his series of books "Explorations of Zav Carstain", other then volumes 14 and 21, which I have already added to my collection.
It is my belief that he has delved deeper then most into what is collectively known as "The Machine", and I would like to see if his writings can perhaps reveal any more detail about the nature of the machine, as well as show me some possible reasons for it's peculiar behaviours of late. I'm sure you have noted the discharges of electricity throughout the settlement, as well as the ground rumblings.
Any information you can provide me on this topic would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance for your kind consideration in this matter.

Roarin stops in at both locations to see if the letters were received.

A sealed letter is sent to Dunwarren Pathfinding Services, left with Rak at the Last Stand, addressed to the return address on the original letter. It reads:
Dear Mr. Bilmfrickten,
Due to the Library being understaffed at present, and the fact that Acting Curator Varlam Nikitovich is quite busy, I have taken it upon myself as a newly employed Librarian here to answer your enquiry.
The Library catalogue (which currently is sparse) holds no such reference or record to Zav Carstain. I trust you have asked at the Rare Book Shop for titles by this author. I have browsed through the Zav Carstain works there - you may already own copies of them. Please feel free to come to the Library yourself and read any of the works that we have on our shelves here at your leisure.
One research contact into the matter of Carstain's writings might be former Councillor Adelia Tyrell, who has written a general work on Dunwarren herself (see the bookshop). Though I suspect her research interests are directed moreso now towards finding The Way to the surface, rather than further investigating the Dunwarren Machine.
Another contact may be the Acting Curator himself, Mr. Nikitovich. Based on my reading of his work 'Accounts of Undead in Dunwarren', in which he describes himself as an adventurer and Spellguard Agent, I am guessing that he may have had access to the kind of 'Machine' literature you seek. One can only hope.
I search for rare works of literature myself, and hold an ambition to have any and all works placed onto the shelves of this Sanctuary Library. Unfortunately, little in the way of ancient writings has been submitted to the library as yet, though I do hope to rectify this. I will make the subject of 'Zav Carstain' and his authored works a priority though, and shall inform any new Library Staff member of your research interest.
Yours in the spirit of deeper enquiry,
Ordinant Kepler Szul
Library Staff Member.
