I'm Drowning!

Can we have our character have a script pop on him/her telling -you- that the Character? Sometimes we don't notice the log when in combat about us drowning.

Is that what you mean?

What, the fact that you've been underwater for a significant amount of time isn't indication enough?

The damage floating above your head should be an indicator as well.

If you'll read Thomas's post again, he was concerned especially about combat situations underwater where the combat log gets flooded with messages and you're taking ordinary damage too, burying the drowning messages and damage underneath. It's a valid cause for concern since you don't necessarily notice the passage of time so easily in the heat of combat -- even though you should be pretty well aware of how much air you've left in your lungs, realistically.

Anthee hit my point, but sometimes realistically you are more worried about the shark attacking you then you realize its not hurting you till you hit the fugue.

I understood the post just fine. Unless I'm getting swamped by creatures or it's very laggy, I can tell who is hitting me and for what damage without even looking at the log. I suppose I could've elaborated more on that point, but I don't always realize how curt my responses can be.

Since I'm posting again, I would also add the advice that if you are underwater, drowning should be your first concern in a combat situation. Drowning damage is almost guaranteed, while fleeing combat still allows a decent chance at avoiding damage. Also, once you surface, your underwater enemies can't get you! My last trick is to check the time you have underwater as soon as you enter and simply count to yourself (I try to count quickly just to be safe).
