Sera's Logbook

Extradimensional encounters of Seraphine Nernetsk: Pocket Planes: Plane 1, 11th Alturiak, 1374 DR, titled "Bloodbath realm": A portal in the Dunwarren ruins was encountered.

  • Two-way portal, unnatural in origin.
  • Likely the work of an archmage working on the creation of a bloodgolem.
  • Why he left the portal open and his pocket plane exposed to Sanctuarian citizens is unknown.
  • After several expeditions the portal closed by itself as soon as the last member exited. It is unknown how to return.
  • The realm was made out of stone and had a pool of blood in its center where a hostile blood golem was resting.

Plane 2, 17th Alturiak, 1374 DR, titled "Pocketplane realm close to the plane of fire no. 0001": A gnome in the Dunwarren ruins teleported an expedition team I mounted into a nearby volcano so we could search for naturally occuring portals to the Inner Planes, specificially the Plane of Fire. The Volcano is located near the kobold city of Sslas'teesh (phonetically spelt) where deep gnomes are mining for resources. They were being attacked by fire elementals. I immediately suspected an interplanar portal (I could feel its presence tugging at me) was nearby and I was able to locate it and activate it to work as a two-way channel. The svirfneblin promised "oodles" of gold for clearing out the realm. At first I was hesitant as the portal could have led to the Plane of Fire (which would make the task impossible). After warding ourselves, the party entered the portal. It was found:

  • The ground was solid stone, as were the buildings, and thus the realm was not the Plane of Fire
  • The realm had a very erratic temperature, but on average the air was hotter than the volcano.
  • The realm was confined to a limited area, and thus it was a pocketplane
  • The realm was ruled over by a powerful planetouched sorceress who was upset by the gnomes disturbing the fire. She attacked us angrily and would not listen to reason. Sadly she was put down. (All that knowledge wasted)
We had to leave soon after defeating the sorceress as the erratic temperature began to rise to near intolerable levels (The moat was boiling). The gnomes paid a very satisfying amount of gold (oodles) and the portal was made dormant by a simple dispelling incantation. (It can be easily activated again as it is naturally occuring) If necessary I can find my way back to enter the realm again, though claiming it as my home would be terribly unsatisfying, the heat is too unbearable to live in for long.
