Apologies for not making this clear, but we ask that players do not store quest items (those that strip on login) in persistent storage chests. There is a reason we make these items strip, varying for each item. If you're confused about why an item that has supposed plot significance strips, just contact myself for a clarification.

Additionally, persistent storage should not really be used for items of other plot significance. Our intent with these items is for them to circulate among the player base as people fight over them. Impregnable faction headquarters are thus generally not appropriate. If you'd like clarification regarding a specific item, feel free to contact a DM.

Since I prefer technical solutions to rulemaking, persistent storage chests will soon automatically reject quest items, so this won't be an issue with regard to those. (this will be true as of v408)

As for items of other plot significance, what Howland said stands.
