Letter sent to the Beacon

To whom it may concern,

My name is Huan Zhi. I have heard tell that the Beacon is a place of mercy and justice. I am interested in aiding you in your endeavors.

I am a sage, a healer, and a warrior. I spent many of my younger years suffering as an orphan, and I give blessings to Ilmater for his servants rescued me from certain starvation on the streets of Kai Shan.

With honor and justice,

Huan Zhi.

Huan Zhi,

I am Patricia Threadbare, mendicant in service to Ilmater, and Caretaker of the Beacon. You are quite welcome here. We are a house of charity and mercy for those in need, but we are not a house of justice. Officially, we do not involve ourselves with matters of conflict and war.

Those who aid us in an official capacity must do so with that knowledge. Aside from the defence of the Beacon and the people of Lower, there must be no sanctioned crusade against any man or woman. We exist to bring an easier life to the people of Lower.

However, it is true that many of the people who lend us their aid intend to hire and train defenders for the Beacon and Lower city. Amongst these would be Sir Cort Jorino, Sir Elmuthalleth Anver at the Temple of Tyr in New Dunwarren, and Lady Friday Wainwright. Your aid as a healer and sage is more than welcome, and as a warrior I suggest you speak with one or all of these fine people to see what can be done to defend the people.

I thank you most graciously for your offer of aid and look forward to serving in the cause of charity with you.

Ward regards, ~Patricia Threadbare
