To Request to the Spellguard

Spellguard,

Come and remove your 'ward' from the Arena at your earliest convenience please.

Thanks,

Reev Steward of the Arena

[A reply is penned and delivered to the Arena]

Reev,

If you wish the ward removed, it will be done.

I remind you that casting spells in unwarded areas is still a dangerous act and a crime, and all occurances will be punished as always.

Might I enquire why you wish the ward's removal?

*the Seal of the Spellguard*

((signed with a flourish)) Agent Blake Order of the Spellguard

Agent,

I've been told from numerous sources that the wards are in fact some kind of spying device. Whether this is true or not I cannot say, but I find it unseemly and have decided to err on the side of caution.

If you can see to it within the next few darks, that will be good.

Reev.

*after noticing the original request, as well as after opening Blakes letters in search for a reply, Delgado replies to Reev*

Reev, the Spellguard unfortunately have other, more important, matters to handle than pampering to the infantile needs of conspiracy theorists. The removal of the wards is both non-trivial and utterly out of the question.

The Arena has been used throughout Sanctuary's time as a place where both magical and mundane duels have been held. Magical duels can involve a great deal of spells being flung which will in turn ensure that various creatures around our settlement feel drawn to this place; Magic eaters for example, as well as other even more dangerous creatures.

The fact that you are willing to ignore this threat speaks volumes of your nature.

On another point, even if the wards were used by the Spellguard to spy on you, what is it that you are so afraid the Spellguard will discover? Has illegal activity been rampant within the Arena during your time as Steward, which you wish hidden from the authorities? Or are you planning such in the future?

I'm afraid I will be persuaded to launch an official investigation of the arena and all related activities of anyone working within if your deficient request isn't retracted.

Operative,

What 'important' matters do you attend to? Obscure works and insidious plots that weaken the city, is what. I can deal with a bloody Magic Eater; not all men wear elaborate dresses and have frail, sickly bodies.

The Spellguard secession from the city and thus away from its defense and war against its many surrounding foes speaks volumes of the cowardly and depraved nature of its personnel. The Spellguard should be working alongside the Watch like it always has in the defense of the city and the fight with its vile neighbours.

The ward will be removed with or without your consent. Spend resources 'launching an official investigation' on me and the Arena all you want- I've got nothing to hide.

Be aware that I'm the Steward of the Arena and will kick you out if you threaten the peace of the area while pursuing your idiodic investigation.

-Reev

Reev, forward to me the evidence you have of the 'insidious plots that weaken the city' you speak of. If true, I shall personally punish the Agent(s) involved. If you have no evidence and if this is simply more of your conspiracy drivel, I suggest you find Strangebone and feed him this nonsense.

I'm sure you're able to handle the Magic Eaters by yourself but that is not my point, if your mind wasn't too addled from listening to the war mongering, imbecilic speeches of your priests of Tempus, you might understand that others may find themselves faces with these beasts. The creatures might appear where you are not stationed, and take out many citizens before anyone can come to their aid.

I suggest you consider all the possibilities of your actions before you tread forward blindly due to some 'rumors' you've heard from beggars in the streets. Or do you care so little of the common citizen of Sanctuary that you would threaten his life simply because you think it will hide whatever illicit activities you are planning within the Arena?

The Spellguard are neither cowardly nor depraved of good nature. The Spellguard have done more for Sanctuary than you and your war mongering companions can do in all your lives. There is a reason behind the fact that our organization is one of the most popular in Sanctuary, people recognize those who are willing to defend them.

Further, on your depraved slander on the Spellguard. How you think you can judge the Spellguards recent actions, without knowing all the facts, is beyond me. There are factors you will never be able to comprehend that push us in the direction we have taken, all so you and your friends can have a place to stab each other.

The Spellguard works for the betterment of Sanctuary, whether you believe it or not is of no consequence. The wards will not be removed. Attempt removal at your own risk, immense knowledge is required for their removal and failed attempts may prove catastrophic.

Operative,

Your organisation is so popular it is universally loathed and mistrusted to a point where it has seceded from the rest of the city.

I'm done with letters. I do pray to Tempus that you fail to act on the ill-contrived threats at the end of your letter; it will not turn out well for you at all.

Don't bother replying.

Reev.
