*A sealed letter for Agent Blake*

Agent Blake,

I offer you here an account of my exploration of the outskirts of the former lizard city of Slal’teesh.

Even though the lizards seem to have been defeated, the place is far from abandoned. The Shadow Tribe kobolds have made the outskirts of the city itself their home. They are rebuilding a gate within a passage leading to the Slal’teesh docks. It is apparent that the kobolds are attempting to create themselves a stronghold from which they can conduct their operations. Should Sanctuary fall afoul of this tribe, even though they individually are no match for the lizardmen that previously occupied the area, I conclude that their sheer numbers might create a threat even more hazardous than the former lizards of Slal’teesh. I was unable to get into the city proper, so I cannot say if the kobolds inhabit that place as well as its outskirts. The remnants of the lizardmen might just as well still reside within the place, as the kobold.

The Tribe seems to welcome visitors, as I entered the area twice, once unseen and once seen. They offered trade of many wares and were happy to purchase some things I offered them. There are signs declaring that gnomes or goblin without masters are not allowed there and I came upon many goblin and gnome skulls.

There is a cavern accessible from the docks area which is half flooded. I explored this as well and was able to locate a couple of tight knit packs of 2-5 lizardmen holed within. They appeared quite edgy and would, without a doubt, have attacked me should they have seen me, so I did not risk it.

The area is accessible in two ways, which I have been able to find. One is to buy passage on a boat, from the ruined remains of the Blue Mushroom tavern, with a kobold boatman. The other takes longer to travel and is slightly more perilous. If you pass the Blue Mushroom, there is a long passage leading through monster infested lands, which runs along the Dark Lake towards Slal’teesh. I have encountered hostile kobold from other tribes, goblin and great umberhulks on that route, so I would not recommend it for the unwary. Although, should subterfuge be your intent, it would without a doubt be the preferred route.

The main kobold camp was located to the right side of the dock area, if you have your back turned towards the lake. The camp area is accessible from either the courtyard outside the main gate leading into the city itself, or between a small crevasse in the stone wall outside the area the now incomplete gate will guard.

I will inform you should changes occur within the area between my visits there but keeping an exact number on the kobold population might be nigh but impossible.
