Guilds and "closed" doors

Okay, my first post and Im a little new here. But I think it should be a requirement for guild members to close the doors they have keys for. Ive seen a few that are wide open and walked right through them. A fight broke out because of one of them and someone got killed. Being really new here I dont know which places Im not supposed to be in and dont think its fair that people can get angry when they leave a door wide open and not locked. Make sure you close the door and use the "lock" option to make sure no one else can get in even though you closed the door.

Usually, I believe, these doors close and lock automatically.

All sensitive NPC-populated faction doors should automatically close and lock in under a minute. There are some areas that can be locked by factions but aren't always "sensitive" (depending on what's being done in there) or are run entirely by PCs, and there are rooms that can be locked in the Last Stand, as well as some doors that can be locked by any player in certain other areas of the module. Also, what happens In Character is what happens In Character! If a faction member is constantly forgetting to close their faction's doors, that's an issue that the faction should address with its member, ICly. If that character blows up at people getting past their unlocked/open doors, that's the character's reaction. I'd like to think our players are mature enough not to OOCly get upset that they forgot to close something/take it out on others.

I hope that explains a few things, and please don't hesistate to question/comment on other game behavior you're concerned about. Welcome to Escape from the Underdark!

I don't know which faction doors you are speaking of, but I believe it is to be found out IG and IC as to where it is safe or not. Your character is learning which side of the street to walk on as well as which open doors are safe to enter. It would be a shame to have escaped from the Drow slavers to get killed in a city of ex-slaves in the home of some thugs. Actually this would be a better use of subdual than death.

If the faction is a nasty faction, perhaps they enjoy intruders coming in so they can attack them, and I wouldn't put it past some of the evil factions about.

In fact, this is how my PC Shahrivar died. Found an open door to back rooms in a venue, was too curious to not go in... was killed for discovering the *spoiler*. Yay!

While its something I had always suspected oocly, it was fun to have it confirmed purely by chance and another PCs forgetfulness.
