Letter to the Mikkelsons [DM do want]

Noble smiths,

In our hour of need we call to you for aid. Banites have recently raided our Beacon and taken our stew pot. All retaliation and law aside, we must think first of a way to renew our works to feed the hungry. In that spirit I write to you.

It is my hope that you would be willing to craft for us a new stew pot, large and accessible, and that it could be installed in the floorboards of the Beacon to prevent its theft. For your efforts, you will earn the admiration and gratitude of those who even now begin to wither from lack of hope and nourishment.

I am willing to pay for the costs of your labour myself, and seek out the materials should you be in too short a supply. We have some small amount of metal in our stores, but it may not be enough. I pray you pen a reply in all haste, for the longer our people go without, the deeper their misery will descend.

Gods bless and keep you,

~Patricia Threadbare, mendicant of the Beacon, and neighbour to smiths and gentlemen.

Ms. Threadbare,

I'm willing to do this. I'll need around six ingots of ore for the job, though. I can't be using my dwindling supplies for this type of work, I'm sure you can understand.

Labour'd be about four hundred coin.

Mikkelson.

Good men of the Mikkelson Family,

I ask to you please excuse the lateness of my reply. Much has happened since last we corresponded. I am grateful that you went out of your way to write back to me.

Of the many things which have happened of late, of most import at the moment is my new goal to see permanent guardians willing to station themselves at the Beacon. In recent times we have been assaulted by dark priests, undead, and other such creatures. We are now in a position to protect ourselves, and I do not wish to wait a moment longer.

Therefore, I would like to change my request to an order of steel armors. Due to the efforts of our Sir Cort Jorino, we've come into roughly one hundred pounds or so of steel ingots which we would gladly give to you for this order. A uniformed set that would best define the Beacon. I would like to leave the specific design up to you, as I know from your work that you are a master artist with steel, whereas I know not the first thing about it. If it would be possible to craft armor modest enough to fit a robe over it with relative comfort then that would be best in my mind.

In addition, as you are certainly a respected man in this community, I am sure you have connections to the sort of folk who buy armor and weapons. Is there any chance you could direct me to men and/or women of the mercenary profession with a proper heart of kindness? I am desperately seeking people for a permanent position defending the Beacon doors and so far there have been no applicable people able to meet the position.

If you would care to, please drop off another reply at the Beacon and I will reply in turn as soon as I receive it. I apologize again for the lateness of this letter and I hope it will not spoil your opinion.

~Patricia Threadbare, mendicant and neighbour to smiths and gentlemen.

Miss Threadbare,

One hundred pounds of is only enough for two sets of plate. I'm a busy man and can't spend my time switching to particular orders just because you have a few ingots of metal. Labour costs would still apply. You'd be better off selling me the ingots and buying some of the steel armour I already have made.

Mikkelson.
