THis gets annoying, sometimes a dm cannot, is not, available to change deity. Can there be certain items that allow players to change the deity of another, an item or widgit that dms hand out? If players had sucess in converting other players before, I think it should be allowed. And there not droppable, they have to stay in your pack. And the dms can trust players not to abuse them.
Or, a small item that allows players to change there own deity? ((Not given to clerics or paladins))

Why not? Paladins and Clerics may have need to change their deity. They'd lose all their powers, but they could need it.

There is no need to change your Deity, unless you're a Paladin or Cleric. If you find this a problem, log off and wait until one is available.

THen a dm would need to be around to observe there loss of power.

Just so I may ask; Why? As stated above, there is an easier solution; Just don't cast spells for the moment, or just log off. In the case of converting a Cleric, I can not even begin to imagine this happening through mere PC-convertion, short of significent IG happenings. Paladins aren't bothered by a Deity-change, unless it becomes a non-Paladinic deity. Really, there is absolutely no need to make a script/ wand for this. It is ridicilous nonsense, a waste of time and energy.

This will take a minor burden off the dms if the player and the Convertee agrees.

It's what you're assumed to do anyway.

So far I have been personally responsible for the conversion of two charctors and both times I had to wait for a dm to change there religion. PLease, make your, and my, and everyones life easier.

Why not simply assume the period of awaiting for a DM is some kind of penance/ trial period as the new deity may not enlighten immediately it's new worshiper.
Clerics are supposed to study the new religion for some time i suppose...
Patience is the word.

I don't agree with this suggestion, but my character has converted a Cleric, a Druid, and roughly speaking six to eight other non-divine spell casters.
As a result of said conversions and a talk with DM's I was told that DM's don't like to change deities right away. I'm sure a DM can explain it better than I can, and my brain is currently blank on what the exact explanation was... but I'll try and rephrase it as best I can.
Basically, it boils down to this: The DM's want to make sure it was a true conversion. They want to make sure they weren't just saying that they wanted to convert, and if they are true about their conversion - that they are committed to it.

You don't want to get drunk one night, and log on the next day to your Shar worshipping Paladin. Stupid wand.

For what I see, DM changes the deity when they see it suitable, and when they have time. I don't see why you have to get it changed right away, if you are not cleric or such. Just play it that you've been converted, and you'll get it sooner or later.

I think this should not be inplemented, and the DM's should use their time on things more beneficial to overall play.
For most people, worshipping multiple gods is common place.
Praying to two in one sentence may be overdoing perhaps, but there is generally no need to change dieties.
If a cleric or paladin were to change dieties, it is a big momentous event not to be easily come upon or allowed to change.
That it might change for your character in his mind that is fine, you can RP, but It should be up to the DM's for an actual technical switch.

Most of the time this is kinda pointless as has been said seeing as we as players cant see what you put down as your choosen god or gods, i mean i spent months playing a evil priest of Bhaal and no-one had a clue (until he was stoned to death for trying to have Sheriff Fawkes killed) because he made out he was a servant of Hoar or some other god depending on who he spoke to. But i can see Thomas' point in some cases. Characters with little or no religious belief been taken into the teachings of a god by a cleric could be one such time, (This is have done IC a while ago back during my time with the house of light) and converting someone to join a cult as I think Thomas is driving at with his Shar mob but in the end it is something for the DM team to deal with not us as players. We can do all the ground work for the change and convert the player IC but in the end allowing us to change a persons god seems a little pointless over all when a DM will be more than happy to do it i am sure if the player in question asks for the change for RP reasons.

I think this is rather unnecessary, not only because having the wrong deity isn't really a problem (and for classes where it is a problem, they're highly unlikely to be converted, but rather, they'd be doing the converting), but with the easily available DMs almost constantly on IRC and IG, you really don't need your own means of changing deity.

You could just make sure they don't use their diety's powers, and have them march around praising the new god, RP it you don't need the word change.
