An RP issue: PC pride vs. player caution

"This is too easy."

"Ha, hardly challenging."

"Ha ha! They never stood a chance."

"Damn i'm good!"

"Why did i even bother?"

"I could've done this quest alone."

"Three's enough."

Na, i can't do Trolls, see, I have to log soon. Ogres? They're tough, i hear. Hu, the Seer' quest? Too hard. Clowns? No way! OK if you get 3 other frontliners.

See what i'm getting at?

Yes, SnowJewel. People say and do things out-of-character and that sucks. I get it.

[edit] Your first post like this was funnier!

SnowJewel See what i'm getting at?

No...but is there really anything to get? Some people are OOC cowards and some people aren't. Is that it?

Pup People say and do things out-of-character and that sucks.

And i'll remind them each time i deem it necessary, if possible in a nice and gentle way.

OOC friendly talk is rather fun (to me at least, hope i'm not immersion breaking anyone, please tell me if i am). It's a bit like getting together around a table for paper-RP and ending up enjoying something entirely different. It's called social behavior.

But if you see another silly post of mine, it's usually that i witnessed something not so nice done/said OOCly to other players, and that's not something i approve.

Be that as it may, and with no disrespect intended, the DM team have said time and again that they prefer it if players refrain from commenting on the quality of others' RP, particularly if the comments are negative. I would recommend caution in what you decide to say, even if you name no names.

lovethesuit I would recommend caution in what you decide to say, even if you name no names.

You are wise and right. I must learn diplomacy, but argh sometimes it's hard.

Shame this isn't more like the Pen and Paper version, you could just put ranks in it.

Admittidly though, I can support

Na, i can't do Trolls, see, I have to log soon.
I just can't do a quest if I end up along the lines of "Okay, need to finish the soon, or I'll be late for work! Hurryhurryhurryhurry"

You've just got to go for it OOC. Some people don't like risking their characters OOC, even if their character would do it IC.. I say just go for it! But, I also didn't read much into the start thread. So, to be honest, I don't know what's going on.

*Hangs his head in guilt*
