I'm planning to take some person along in a quest and wait till he's near death to finish him...
So I know i'm suppose to tell a DM before initiating PvP, but this kind of occasion has a very short time frame.
I was thinking of telling the person way before hand that this is the plan, but then it's likely i'll never get a chance...
So what's the DM advice on how to handle this? Or can we consider this post as "i'm sorry but that was planned all along" when it happens ?...

You should get a DM, inform them of your plan, and attempt to convince them to stick around if it's going to take a while.

This tactic is frowned upon, particularly if it's a random victim.

I frown on this "tactic" and it's use and find it a lame and unfulling way to get PvP done.

I would encourage you to find a more interesting means of offing an opponent that is more entertaining and enjoyable for both sides.
