Flare Cantrip

For people playing fire wizards there is no cantrip they can use.

I'm up for seeing Flare changed to do fire damage like the other cantrips rather than the current -1 AB or whatever it does.

Flare is not actually a fire spell, it's just light, I believe.

Yes, you're correct.

My suggestion wasn't clear. I'd suggest changing it from a spell that casts a burst of blinding light that gives -1 AB for one round to a fire spell that does 1d4+1 damage like the other elemental cantrips.

Why make yet another 1d4+1 cantrip when there's finally one that does something entirely different? I think Flare is actually a pretty decent spell if you're supporting.

I'm actually up for making things more in line with what they should be in canon rules when it makes sense to.

This cantrip creates a burst of light. If you cause the light to burst directly in front of a single creature, that creature is dazzled for 1 minute unless it makes a successful Fortitude save. Sightless creatures, as well as creatures already dazzled, are not affected by flare.

This spell though I would like to see stay as is. Personally I would argue that cantrips should adhere to the rule that no cantrip should be able to kill directly, and thus change ray of frost to it's correct damage.

A ray of freezing air and ice projects from your pointing finger. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack with the ray to deal damage to a target. The ray deals 1d3 points of cold damage.

That said, we upped the other cantrips to do the same increased damage as ray of frost does as it shipped in the game. I don't think we need another one just to complete the round of elemental damage. Plenty of spells to choose from and still not break immersion.
