Citizens of Sanctuary!

The assassination of First Citizen Bhast should indicate clearly to each of you the willingness of some to keep you all living within dark, dank, poverty! Now, more then ever, you will need a strong leader on the council that will enforce the laws and provide an environment that is conducive of economic trade growth. As I have made mention previously, I expressed my interest in running for council to be your representative. My platform for being elected is four main objectives:

Firstly, my responsibility is to the people. No longer will your write your letters to the council only to have them neglected. No longer will you not see or hear from a councilor during troubling time.

Secondly, I recognize that Sanctuary has experienced negative economic growth as a result of invasions and abandonment by “economic allies”. In an attempt to boost economic growth, I would favor the establishment of mercenary organizations, who venture into the dangerous Underdark to locate and obtain resources that can be used for Sanctuary consumption. These professional mercenary groups will be employed to mitigate specific threats posed to Sanctuary’s economic stabilities. Furthermore, as economics begin to improve, I will push for further taxation on merchants as a means of directly contributing to social services for the people who need them most…you!

Thirdly, I feel that a stronger economic environment would encourage strength and growth of Sanctuary. As such, I would push for laws that would make it easier for entrepreneurship to transpire. What I specifically mean by this is although I despise most monstrous races, I would make certain concessions on individual basis for those races that are solely interested in trade and economics.

Fourthly, I am for a strong and efficient military defense force that is able and equipped to mitigate any and all threats posed to Sanctuary. Rather then have your hard paid tax coin be wasted on the negligent Seeker Organization, I would rather see their budget provided to Citizens who are capable scouts and collectors of information. Therefore, you can be sure that the coin you pay will directly contribute identifying long range threats posed to Sanctuary. Furthermore, I would do all in my power to identify the individuals involved with First Citizen Bhast's death and see that they are brought before justice!

In closing, if you have ever wanted increased security, closer communication with the council, or increased economic growth, then I humbly ask for each of your votes. HAREN DE’VOTELL AS YOUR REPRESENTATIVE FOR COUNCIL!

Citizens of Sanctuary! We collectively…Upper & Lower…are faced with grim realities. We have significant vulnerabilities and threats posed to our very existence…our very basic right to live, without the Drow shackles of slavery or Illithid’s crown for mental imprisonment. Despite the threats posed to our existence and the current vulnerabilities we have, I fear Sanctuary as a whole has become complacent and content with the status quo of corruption and inefficiency.

During my service with the Watch, I have directly contributed to putting down rebellions in lower, as well as repelling invasions at our gates. Reflection on those actions has caused my heart to ache as we continue to bicker and fight internally, while the overwhelming external threats continue to mount to destroy us. Upper and Lower must unite and we must collectively and collaboratively work together to mitigate these threats.

Every one of you should know that we are at a State of War. We have been at this state since our first leaders established Sanctuary. Sanctuary needs a collaborative Sancturian effort to take the fight to any and all that would see our destruction! As your elected representative for Council, I will work tirelessly to insure each of you continue to possess the very basic right to live! To be able to provide for your families! To insure you are forever free from Shackles and Whips of Slavery!

As your elected representative for Council, I will work towards the following objectives:

Firstly, I will push for the reunification of Lower as part of Sanctuary. I think Mayor Bhast’s intent was honorable; however his solution for fixing the problem was too extreme and unrealistic. Despite the political differences between the people of Upper and Lower, we are all pieces of fabric from our original leaders. I feel that the security and economic situation in lower is a healthy indication of how we, Sanctuary as a whole, are doing.

Secondly, too long has passed in lower without uniformed security personnel to patrol the streets. I would encourage lower to identify a capable individual and elect him or her to serve as a Deputy Sherriff for lower. This Deputy Sherriff will be chartered with establishing a capable force in lower employing citizens of lower.

Thirdly, I would encourage the establishment of a Guild in lower that employs scouts, bounty hunters, and spies to assist with working towards Sanctuarian intelligence interests.

Fourthly, I will meet regularly with representatives of the Spellguard, Watch, Society of the Ordered Mind, organized mercenary band leaders, Worm Clan, and Tribe of the Blade to assist in the development of a comprehensive operational plan for conducting offensive activities against Sanctuary threats.

Finally, I will do all that I can to encourage economic growth within Sanctuary.

People of Sanctuary,

Alas…the hour of elections is drawing near. Before you cast your vote, allow me to reiterate my commitment to each of you. I see as well as you that many attempted to use the chaotic political situation for their own gain! If you elect me as your representative on council, you have my oath to aggressively identify all corruption and hold all individuals accountable for criminal actions.

Additionally, I see a significant rift that has developed within organizations within our communities. I will do all in my power to re-establish public trust within the government and encourage public and governmental cohesion. However, I will also identify and root out any and all factions that are harmful to our stability and way of life.

Finally, I will continue to work for Sanctuary security and stability. If security and trade are in your interests, vote Haren De’votell for the next elections.
