Councilor Dugo Nish delivers the following speech in the Town Hall on Hammer 20th of Year 152 since the Founding.

Dearest citizens!

It is today that my heart weeps for you, when you are to be deprived of your freedom to choose your own leadership by our newly-appointed First Citizen, when full-fledged hypocrisy is used as a valid argument to turn our town into a dictatorship.

Hear me now! I, Dugo Nish, Sanctuary councilor, hereby declare that I will not abide to Demetrius Bhast’s new powers! That I will not join his lackeys in hailing him!

Bhast claims that the council is inactive. He himself is supposed to be part of that council. Upon countless attempts that have been made to get a discussion started on the problems that face our town, that Bhast often does not even show his face to share his opinions. Councilor Bhast indeed, for he was never even appointed to become the actual Mayor of our town, not by anyone! To the moment where he declared himself First Citizen, Bhast was the self-appointed acting Mayor, and has never even attempted to legalize his reign.

That the coward Bhast would leave the countless poor and helpless of Lower Sanctuary to starve and die at the hands of criminals, and at the same time claim that he has ‘only the greatest compassion’ for these people. Such proclamations would not even the archdevil Asmodeus have himself utter for fear of being declared insane.

This is what I do. I declare Demetrius Bhast insane. He is a dangerous dictator who seeks nothing but the enslavement of our people, to flatten every bump in the road with the heaviest hammer he can think of, while draping this hammer in the finest silks. I declare that any person who would consider themselves sane get a shovel, and block the dictator Bhast’s road with the largest mountain he can achieve.

I will not co-operate with this so-called ‘Age of Bhast’, when it has not even been made definitive that the Age of Bresley did not end at this man’s own hands. I hereby step down from my position as councilor, and will do everything within my power to stop this insane dictator.
