Greeting's, I'm new to this Server, having tried it out several times over the past four months I have decided to stay for awhile, to get a good feel for whats on offer.
I am very impressed thus far with the area design, and the interaction between players. Everytime I have logged in, I've had RP for 99% of that time. Nice work!
I have played on a couple other servers, the last one I was on I stayed for nearly 2 a bit years. Whilst there I played all sort sof things, from undead Liches to three different Drow. Even a Matron :) so this place really appeals to me.
Any good advice or helpful tips would be appreciated, and greatfuly received. I play GMT, as I'm English. How long does one have to play before considering applying for a Drow subrace? (I wont kid, they are the main reason I am here! It's takena while to find a server that has decent rules for Drow, and trully emcompasses what they are about)
So yeah, Nice to meet you, and even nicer to find the Module interesting enough to draw my attention away from other ones.
Tanyaca Nen'Shoru, aka Aduwar.

It's not necessarily a specific time limit. Basically, all the DMs are looking for is that you've played a non subrace character, in order to get a good feel for the server. They'd like to see you in action with something normal, before giving you something special.
My advice would be to think of a good concept for a standard race character, and give the server a serious go with it. I'm sure if you put a good amount of thought into it, the character will be more than a waiting room, as well.
Good luck, and Welcome!

First of all, welcome to the Underdark! I'm sure we'll be playing a fair amount of time together. :)
As to answer your question: I think it's important to first get a better understanding of the setting/module, and allow a DMs and Players to get to know and feel you. Perhaps this http://www.escapefromunderdark.com/applications/application-faq/ efu-related link might help you out as well. Anyway, enjoy your time and stay!

Welcome to the Underdark.
As far as getting a drow, Deputy and Obedience pretty much already covered that.
I'll be keeping an eye out for you IG.

By proving your roleplaying prowess by being a consistant and law-abiding player, it shouldn't take long for the DMs to get to know you. After that, it's just a matter of knowing what you want, how you want to use it, and how you'll make it fun for everybody!
The real key here is planning ahead of time. It's not as scary as most people think, as long as you put some consideration into it!

Welcome to the server. The main issue with drow Pcs is that it is extremely challenging. From the moment you start, Pcs will be hunting you. Disguises are very limited in their usefulness. There are significantly less quests available to you. Especially if you're on your own, you'll be spending a lot of time in dark tunnels away from all PC interaction getting beat up by rats. It takes a certain kind of player to enjoy that.

I used to be a DM on another server (Including being thier Drow DM for a shortwhile), and have played drow far longer than I should really be able to count :)
What drew me was the way in which people here can react to drow. There are servers out there where playing drow was nothing more than a tea party. There was no racial hatred of them, nor rules in place to support it.
I would highly expect to pvped, hunted, and downright checking my back 24/7 as a drow, both from the nondrow and the drow alike!
I love Lolth and have played a priestess of hers on another server which became a House Matron. (Faction Leader)
I look forward to seeing most of you ingame. I'm game for almost anything!

Welcome to the server. If you want a taste what it would generally be like to play a Drow, but without the nifty skills and everything, play a goblin or kobold for a while. Then take the difficulty you had surviving as that, and multiply it by 5.

Note that priestesses of Lolth are extremely unlikely to be approved here since most drow PCs are expected to be fugitives or exiles of some kind. I'm fairly sure almost every single drow PC approved so far -- almost -- has worshipped either Vhaeraun or Ghaunadaur.

I noticed, but I do think with a good enough story, which I have developed over the eyars could eprsaude the nice DM's otherwise. I understand it is unlikely, and the odd's are against me, but hey... Time will only tell!

Try a goblin while you wait for the app, all the same things Howland said apply, except your putrid, green and not nearly as pretty..

Are they application too? Or free to play subrace?
My first character I think will be an Old Human, a healer. Tired, and far too old for the Slavers to keep about, him and a few youngsters break free, find thierselves downbelow, and he finds a new belief in his abilities, and strives to adventure and help others. Realising his days aren't up just yet. I think he will be very old though, and anything that requires lots of effort will be a real struggle for him.
(Low str, low con, high wisdom, medium charisma, normal Int)
At most, it will show im not a one trick pony!

Goblins and Kobolds can be played by anyone. You merely have to choose Halfling as a base race and put "Goblin" or "Kobold" in the Subrace field.
