Dungeons and Dragons Online

Anyone else getting DDO besides me? I know, I know, some you think it's going to be terrible and I certainly have my doubts, but my entire PnP group is purchasing it and we all plan to play online together. If anyone from EFU get's their hands on the game drop me a line in IRC so that we might play together. My PnP group plans to start an RP guild when DDO launches, I'm sure anyone from EFU would be welcomed to come and join in on our RP.

I'm thinking of it. I'll give the trial a go when it launches. :)

Best of luck with the RP guild.

Two questions:

1) When does it come out? 2) Is there a monthly fee?

If the answer to number two was yes, I doubt you'll see me.

Its the first game which had a petition started amoung beta testers to keep the game from being released.

#1 - It is out on the 28th in the US.

#2 - Yes, a monthly fee...

From http://www.ddo.com/index.php?page_id=63

"The regular version of the game will be available at a suggested retail price of $49.99 and includes thirty days of subscription time. The Limited Edition will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99 and also includes thirty days of subscription time.

After the first month, players will be charged a monthly subscription fee. Players can purchase multiple months of subscription time in advance at a discounted rate."

I was one of the beta testers, and I can say it's rather fun when you have played it for a while. I can also say, that I am getting bored on it after a while.

You basicly just hack and slash some quests with party, then you move to another part of the city and go trough some more quests. It is actually very fun, if you have alot of friends, but at some point it just gets annoying. It is the same stuff almost all the time.

EDIT: One very good part is the real time battles. It's cool that you can use all kind skills and feats, dodge with tumble, use shields and so on.

I am reluctant to play MMORPG's, since the community is often chaotic, you know almost no one, and there are a lot of people who don't know how to roleplay, and can't be bothered to learn it either (Hate at Guildwars).

I prefer the smaller communities that we have on NWN. Half of the playerbase I can stop and make a chat too. I like that far better than playing on-line with 3 million anonymous players.
