The goblin Survival feel

Its more intense than being a kobold. Seriously, ITS AWESOME, in my 1st three hours playing a Goblin, I never felt the surival feel stronger.

I died within 30 minutes of playing a goblin. Go figure. And that's PvP death, not PvE. Didn't even get around to doing any PvE.

Goblin survival is a feeling.

This seems like the right place, got alot of questions last night about FD and goblins, here is the official line, Thanks AScottbay!(Howland via ASCottbay that is)

If you play a goblin/kobold PC (or other monstrous PC), you should consider yourselves completely fair game to every other character out there for PvP (FD or otherwise). Even if you're level 2, it is completely and totally legitimate for a high level character to kill you just for being a goblin/kobold. Not every character is going to despise goblin/kobolds to the point that they'll hunt them down, but certainly some will and it is fine to do so. The whole point of playing these PCs is that it is a real challenge to do so, so it is totally counter-productive for players to feel as if they must avoid PvP'ing goblin/kobold PCs out of OOC consideration.

The main PvP guidelines still apply, however. If the PvP occurs in an area with NPCs, a DM must be present. Regardless of NPC presence, a DM tell should be sent alerting us to the PvP so if anyone is online we can watch. Likewise, if you RP a character that hunts down goblins/kobolds it is of course fair for these PCs to respond in kind.

The streets of Lower are increasingly chaotic, and although we prefer every effort be made to find a DM before PvP occurs in this area if that is impossible it is generally acceptable to engage in PvP in the streets themselves. Areas such as goblin town, inns, taverns, populated faction areas, etc. -must- have a DM present for any PvP.

Its a fun rush. I fear geting attatched to mine because after living for an entire evening hes already overdue for his death!

Mine was caught in the open buying supplies from a vendor, and he tried to run back to the crone but the dwarf killed him, IT WAS FECKIN AWESOME!~

I would argue that, while it gives a survival feel to FD kobolds and goblins, it limits the advancement of plots with these races over the long term.

The server has a large number of level 2 and 3 kobolds and goblins that are mostly ineffective at fighting back. If more subdual was used, then there would be the chance for goblins/kobolds to build enemies, seek vengeance, and create grander plots that could have even more interesting affects on the server. Then once things get more serious some FD confrontations could be carried out.

However, from my posts lately, it is clear that I am pro SD for initial skirmishes, and pro FD only for plot ending events or major character confrontations. So my opinion here is biased.

Also, I do not play a goblin or kobold so am not saying this just to protect my own character.

Maybe that's why FD is used.

Thump was a harmless goblin bard, he only dreamed of writing the biggest and bestest goblin epic, his next epic would of been, Hail! Glorblor the Shadow! Hail, Glorblor the Protector!

My comment on using subdual more is definitely OOC to develop stories, but FD definitely makes more sense IC in many situations.

In my humble opinion, SD is much more constructive for RP and fun on the server. FD definitely has its usefulness, and needs to be a real threat, but I would hope it would not be the majority of PvP deaths. I've been somewhat disappointed in the ratio of FD vs. SD I've seen against the goblins/kobolds, and feel some real opportunities for RP and for character growth has been missed.

I'm pretty sure the killers in these cases have been all but interested in seeing character growth. Afterall, a gnome really should not not FD a kobold.

That being said, not all characters adhere to their racial stereotypes.

Nor should they.

Of course not. I was merely giving an example.

Playing a goblin and constantly having the risk of someone popping up to FD you is what I personally thinks make playing the subrace exciting. It's like a survival challenge, and a very doable one given how the server is structured. So I do not think people should be pressured OOC'ly to not FD if their character would FD evil monsters. That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with a little RP to give some closure to the FD.
