Hell ive just heard there was an earthquake in the UK at about 5 on the scale around Canterbury...i know earthquakes happen all the time at such a low level but hell.. this knocked chimley pots off the roofs... ARGH!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!
Earthquake!!
ouch, guess I never think of the UK getting earthquakes.
I hope Im not hit with a earthquake!
I was less than 2km from the epicenter of the Newcastle earthquake here in Oz back in 1989. It was 5.5, and knocked me to the ground. Scary stuff.
I experienced many earthquakes in Japan.
The little ones can cause motion sickness if you are sitting down.
I was there when the big one hit Kobe sometime in 1996 or so. I was in a nearby city and still we had trouble. I lived in a ten story apartment on the fifth floor. Half the water from the acquariums fell out. Many things fell and broke. The worst part was no running water for a month. I had to collect buckets of water every morning to bring to the room for cooking and washing.
Many of the roofs in Kobe were covered with blue tarp. For years afterwards half the kids in Kobe were scared of the color blue.
An earthquake hit me in the face. :(
5.5..not bad, but living in southern California, if it doesn't knock down a building, we think of it as a free ride (on a coin operated vibero-matic bed you find in the old cheesey hotels across the country)..
Earthquake tip of the day- Door ways are one of the safer places to be in you get caught indoors..
Is this a dig at the U.K. and our crappy earthquakes?
Man. I'd much rather live in a place that had permenant ominous foreboding of death / destruction of property than live in a place where the biggest threat to your world is having tiles fall off and your excellent tea spilled :)
A hurricane will beat the shit out of an earthquake any day.
*rocks the Florida*
Second this! Grew up in Florida, live in so cal now, Hurricanes win hands down on the dread factor, earthquakes kinda just happen and are over, more of a sudden death variety of natural disasters. I remeber countless hours of fearing the storms back then. 'Course you could always get in your car and drive away, but then no party :(. (Yes, in florida they have hurricane party's as their impending doom rolls in on them)
