Some of you will not know me. Most of you will not know me, but in fact-this is why I have chosen to run for your city council.
I am Dengskapr Thrivaldi. My kin and I came across your settlement, deep here where humans can not survive many thought, to find you struggling to live lives. We are deep dwarves, gold dwarves; we've not seen the sun for decades ourselves because this is where our people live.
This is why I have chosen to run for your city council.
Of any candidate, I know the Underdark. I know its horrors and I will fight them. The piked heads of kobolds in Lower proves that. The fearful notes left by druegar come to Sanctuary to enslave you proves that. Any coward that screams a Thrivaldi can not guide your city to greatness proves I will.
All monsters fear a dawn, and Sanctuary can dawn.
Finally, unlike many; I am not here to represent any faction of Sanctuary's elites or its underclass. I am no ally secretly to the Spellguard, I have been a guest of the Seekers when I had no home. I have reported broken laws to the Watch. I have patrolled the streets of Lower with Winston fighting real monsters kobolds, chosen, undead rather than beggars, homeless, or refugee.
This is why I have chosen to run for your city council.
I am neutral in their fights. This city is torn by distrust, by fear, by fifteen hundred free men all who disagree what is best. A council advises, a council brings negotiation and settlement. When I walk away from the Council; I will have brought you greater peace and unity or I will not walk away.
Let me explain my stance on several urgent issues.
As the drow approach Sanctuary to make demands, I maintain that we resist. To appease them, to roll over on our bellies and hand them gold and slaves will encourage them to attack you more.
I've heard a cowardly Spellguard wizard locked the city gates as brave gnomes fought drow from Traensyr here to assault us. When I reach the Council, such cowardice will be exposed and punished. Showing drow weakness encourages them to draw blood.
A strong stance against drow must be met with wisdom too. There will be efforts to improve Sanctuary's defenses and offer greater protection to its citizens.
Also there are many who believe First Citizen Bhast overstepped his authority in naming himself to his new position with its unclear powers and authority. Yet it proved the necessity of his action when the Council failed to react to his measures, unorthodox as they were. The first issue I will address on your Council will be to examine First Citizen Bhast's actions before and since his important announcement on the Age of Bhast; thereupon his actions will be judged and approved by the Council or rectified by lawful means. Likewise, his appointments to lead the Watch and Seekers will also be examined and judged.
