Circle of Protection

I cast circle of proteciton of evil last night and it wore off in less than a minute. The problem may have been that I cast it on someone who already had protection of evil cast on them. I haven't tried it again, so maybe it was just a fluke.

I've heard that this spell (by default) is glitchy either when going through transitions, or when running. I haven't done any testing of this, though. Could either of those explain it?

Yeah, you can try it out in single player mode if you like... the spell is just bugged. It's a shame too, because it would probably be a really useful one.

Circle of protection is not a very good spell. I'd shy away from any of the 'circle' spells.

At some point it left the effect on me without it dispelling, when the circle itself had dispelled. I was not a target, merely a recipent of the circle. I had entered and left the circle repeatedly during a quest.

I've noticed the same thing with invisibility sphere. When you transition, the effect doesn't wear off but the icons for it go away. You can see if the effect still is on you by examining yourself.

I too, have unfortunately had a lot of trouble with the spell. Going through transitions, and iirc, going up slopes sometimes takes it away very prematurely.

I like the circle spells, LaBro :)

The Circle version of the spell also doesn't protect you against mind spells/effects (vs. good/evil) despite what the description says, making it far less useful than the 1st level variant.

Correct me if I'm wrong regarding the description.

Why in the world wouldn't it be the same as the first lvl spell only in a circle?

I find the spell useful because I can take one third lvl spot for it and open as many as five 1st lvl spells. It makes me a bit more versital. Anyway, since it is buggy I will try not to use it for now.

Arkov, when I next get back IG I will test out the area transition and slope for you.

Hrm. Well, for now, this isn't a bug per se, so I'm locking this thread. If you want to suggest any changes to these spells that could make them less weird, please do so in the Suggestions forum.
