Councilor Tyrell,
The Seekers wish to invoke the Citizenship Awareness Act in order to procure all articles in Spellguard possession relating to the construction, and maintenance of the Animatrons, as well as the enchantment, construction and purpose of the Spellguard "Tiles."
As per the act a formal request was made to the Spellguard, one that was met with refusal. Enclosed is a copy of the request and the response.
Copy of the Request Esteemed Spellguard,The Seekers formally request all articles in your possession relating to the construction, enchantment, and purpose of the Spellguard "Tiles." As we Seekers push out furthur into the Underdark in furtherance of our duties the need may arise to construct safe havens far from Sanctuary, placing tiles to shield magical use within these proposed places would prevent the untimely deaths of Seeker members and help eliminate the risk of enemies being led back to Sanctuary. Also, knowing the limits and range of these "Tiles" will help prevent the Seekers from inadvertantly endangering Sanctuary.
Additionally we request all articles pertaining to the construction and maintenance of the animatrons. As we pursue our duties as part of Sanctuary's defense "triad" and as we seek the surface, our attention has increasingly turned inward towards the ruins of Old Dunwarren. While the commendable efforts of the Spellguard have decreased the animatron presence they remain quite numerous and a clear and present danger to any Seeker scouting or exploring the ruins. Knowing how they're made is an important part of knowing the best ways to combat or avoid these rogue animatrons. Furthermore it would allow us to disable rogue animatrons without damaging them extensively, allowing us to deliver required parts to you, our Spellguard counterparts.
Though these areas are considered to be under the purview of the Spellguard, please rest assured that the Seekers seek only to become more proficient and knowledgeable in our own areas of interest. The aformentioned articles are an important, perhaps even critical part of that process. We understand the sensitive nature of the requested information, and guarantee it will remain closely guarded and secure. Unrelated to the above requests, allow me to convey my deepest condolences on the recent Spellguard losses.
Regards,
Seeker Redrock, Seeker Hall.
Copy of the Reply Most Honourable & Respectable Seeker,I fail to see how your organisation can be trusted with such information if your members cause the death of citizens in a foolish pursuit of a petty squabble. At the moment we are quite happy with our Animatron Culling Programme and in the near future I doubt we will have need of Seeker assistance. I suggest you focus your efforts in one direction only, moving deeper into the Machine and pushing further out into the Underdark no doubt stretches your numbers considerably, thus making your efforts more futile than they already seem to be. In regards to your Seeker scouts moving in the ruins undetected, I was under the impression your organisation hired people on their unmatched ability to move unseen, if they are unable to hide from a non-sentient being such as an animatron, I'd first question their competence, and be more worried how they are to move unseen against a sentient native such as a Drow, or Illithid.
With utmost respect,
Agent Ilmryn Illiandrio Order of the Spellguard
As the documents and reasons for the request relate to the safety of Sanctuary we would be most appreciative if the matter was brought before the council with all due haste.
Enclosed with this request is a book you may find interesting, I've found it to be entirely indicipherable myself, but I thought you might enjoy unraveling its mysteries. If you do have any success with it, I'd enjoy speaking with you about in person immensely.
Regards,
Seeker Redrock, Seeker Hall.
(The book is in Ilora's inventory, I'll turn it over to a DM or what have you at the earliest opportunity.)
