I know crafting is kaput here but I'd like to know if it would be possible to liase with the NPC blacksmiths and PC's to forge a single weapon.

The idea is that if enough silver is gathered, say ten pounds in weight from various objects like those hand axes, or a silver shield etc, could that be melted down and reforged into a new weapon?

Of course it's a one off and payment for forge hire and materials would have to be considered but is it at least feasible?

That would be one of these "Find out in game".

If I may give you a hint in my rather limited knowledge, it would be affirmative, but you would have to earn this perk by other means than hoarding silver items I think.

I thought that was probably was the case but it does help to hear that there is a possibility that it can be achieved.

As to the hording, already horded although not by me.

Now it's a matter of getting on with it IG.

It's been done before in game, as a matter of fact. So yeah, I figure the precedent is set. You just need to get on with finding a proper way to get it done.

I would say that yes, you can do what you asked if you get a DM to help you, of course.

A long time ago a character of mine had gathered several silver bolts and acquired a ruby. The, then duergar, miners (with a bit of DM kindness) were able to smelt down the silver bolts, set the ruby and put an inscription on a ring that my character eventually gave as a magical (albiet weak magical) engagement ring.

The point is that you have to really really RP things like that well.

And if it's something you are working towards as a main goal of your character, then really really work for it. Put all your skill points in craft weapon, seek out the components you'd need for it and then DM's know that you're doing this.

When you're ready, I'm sure the DM's will oblige you.

The weapon wasn't really for my character specifically.

It's available, and some weapons could be found as well..!! It's just more rare.

So bottom line, RP and IG pursuing is the key :)
