These guys have better AB than third level warrior classes and the same basic AC.
This made perfect sense when heavy armors (plate and tower shield) were more plentiful and less expensive. Now though, perhaps their ABs could use a one or two point reduction.
While I think of it, might another NPC buy the meat? One non-evil perhaps?

Those sewer rats really are monsters. I agree that they might need a little weakening, though I would also agree with decreasing the payout for them too, maybe 3 gold and 3 exp each.
I very strongly disagree with the second part though. I think having a few quests like that where you must deal with evil beings just adds to the flavor of the server, as well as the moral confusion of the Lowers.
Side note:
Currently, there is a very small population that is somewhat related with the goblins that may be interested in purchasing rat meats; having them purchase meat for a bit more xp and less gold seems very plausible. Trying to keep this from being a spoiler.

I personally would like that the rats are so beastly. I used to see a good number of people continuously going down there and hunting again right after a sale. Its more survivalistic down there now. I kind of like seeing people not spam it hardcore.

Yeah I have to agree with Cel. I remember a time when full plate could be bought in town, and fat sewer rats were the scariest thing you would find in the sewers along with the occasional mustard jelly. I can remember that characters would get mad at each other because they were trying to farm the same rats, and as a result of not having to wait for reset they'd have their full plate and an amulet and ring with +AC bonuses and no minuses by fifth level. That's about 6k in gold from killing rats. Having scarier things down there really kind of fixed that quest, because at least now there's risk involved with the reward.

I am sure you could donate the meat to the Beacon.
As its a donation, you won't get any money. And the good deed you do will help go towards feading all the children.
Hint hint hint.

I agree with Oro. Rats as a whole arn't the most fun enenmy, and traveling the Sewers are a bit of a chor when constantly running into differant types of Rat.

I for one would like to see the difficulty of the "farming" quests remain the same (or even increace, in the case of the beetles). If you can consistently do it alone, its not a real quest!

Going anywhere on your own with the intention to fight is something you shouldn't do without the needed amount of plate and supplies. Rats were never brought into existance for people to farm XP/GP on; so it's only reasonably that they remain a real challenge; even more so since you can kill them in unlimited amounts.

Pedantics aside.
I wasn't hunting rats. I was walking in the sewers and having my ass handed to me by groups of "sewer rats" as I explored while having no trouble killing the oozes, animatrons, and odd chosen.
That quest though I expect is far harder to "farm" now with the inclusion of more monsters, various new dangers, etc. None of the "hunt" quests are terribly unbalanced, the beetles can kill easily on critical hits.
My premise simply remains that with it harder for people to gain plate mail--(and if you have plate mail why are you hunting rats? Go do a real man's quest.)--that it makes sense for the AB of the rats to go from a 25% hit chance to perhaps a 10% against a 20 AC.

25% hits on 20AC? Tougher than oozes and chosen? I've been fleeing from the wrong critters! I guess evolution has made these rats quite hardy.

That's assuming they aren't flanking you. Which, invariably, they are. Pushing the ratio actually up to 35% against AC 20.

Steroid pumped rats from the sixth circle of Dante's hell needs to be more like rats.

As a minor aside, I'd like all of the rats in the sewers to drop meat. It doesn't make sense that there are Dire Rats in the sewers that you can't skin for meat. I don't know why the change was made to displace Dire Sewer Rats with Dire Rats.

I believe a great many of you underestimate the size and ferocity of these rats. Some are easely larger than dogs. I disagree with 'toning' this down, for afore-given reasons.

And the saddest thing, tofu + cheese? You had to have seen the movie to know they were there to begin with. You make me cry.

Off-topic: I don't get it. Why doesn't that stupid bitch grab the sword and stab the cute rat? Retarded.

The Princess Bride is an awesome movie. I will not stand for any disparaging remarks regarding it.
