[a letter is deposited at the mayor's office within the day]
Honorable mayor and councilors,
It is unfortunate our schedules do not allow us to meet, thus i will explain here the reasons that endeavour me to try and set up a proper and independant laboratory.
I am well aware that basic equipement allows common spellcasters to brew, but i wish to gather Sanctuary's eminent potions master in hope of discovering how to prepare more powerful potions. This project will of course take some time, as Underdark does not provide proper material easily.
(//OOC: i was thinking of having a shop availlable only to guild members of high lvl>7 to buy special potions –lvl 4 for example which we find in the game but cannot brew - at very high price of course, very limited stock too if that is possible, and whatever other restrictions we can think off in the meantime.)
Whatesmore, leaving brewing to unexperienced spellcasters could result in unforseen and dire consequences, as well as a considerable waste of regeants, which the town may need in dire times.
(//OOC: i was thinking of having the possibility to buy potions bottles at a lesser cost in the building, since i know you do not wish to decrease xp/coin cost of potions in specific places. Getting the curio shop to supply us might make bottles at 2 coins for guild members for example...)
More, having a laboratory, run by a brewer's guild, with the approbation of the Council, would create a trustworthy source of production. This would of course profit to the safety of the town in terms of supplies.
In this matter we would of course work hand in hand with Spellguard. A Spellguard agent i did meet with implied that this organization was more concerned with animatrons than with brewing. I do wish to regroup divine and arcane brewers: Spellguard does not.
In addition, too many times have I seen many uncontrolled brewers take profit from poorly informed newcomers. I would hope to end such a terrible abuse on refugees.
Finally, and most importantly, as i seek to run a profitable organization, we could find a tax arrangement that would profit to the town's budget.
As you see, i do seek not only a real estate for a personnal matter, but in time to developp a full guild to aid the town with such skills we have. Brewing is just a start, and the eminent brewers of the town that i have managed to contact all do support that idea. Your support, and the Council's support, to such a project, would evidently be decisive.
Concerning the real estate claim, i do believe 8 000 coins would suffice to acquire the necessary construction in Upper, as the illusionnary park nearing it is renowned for having regular and dangerous uncontrolled magic flows.
I look forward to your answer.
Sincerly,
Lys the White
Citizen.
