[a letter addressed to Painbearer Michael has bee delivered at the Pissing Crone]
- Painbearer Michael,
I write to you this day to air some of my concerns regarding the soon-to-be-constructed shrine of Ilmater. While I’ve collected the gold that I would be pleased to be able to contribute with in the name of Torm, these concerns will have to be addressed before I may make my donation. The nature of my concerns, as a Paladin, are the people involved in this project. While the integrity of the good priestess Nikka and yourself, as well as that of Gondsman Ippensher, is unquestionable, there are several individuals whom I am disappointed to learn have been involved in this.
My first concern is regarding two of the men who are to be honoured at the shrine; the men called Aaron Wrinkle and Rueth Greyward, men aligned with evil and part of the corruption of our society. Portraits of these men will decorate the walls, and from what I hear they’ve been promised statues as well? While their contributions to such a worthy cause may be generous they have not made them out of the “goodness of their hearts”, but surely with ulterior motives in mind. The third contributor, Mendrick Archibald, I have yet to meet.
My second concern is the man called Kharkres Stark. I understand that he is deeply involved in this project, and would like to know exactly what his responsibilities are as well as what role he will play after the shrine stands completed. As I understand it the man is trying to redeem himself from the black deeds of his past, which certainly is a noble cause, but I would not wish for someone who is still wicked in the eyes of Torm to have any influence over such a place of prayer and benevolence.
As I wish nothing to do with men of such nature, and certainly not at my place of prayer, I fear I may not be able to make my contribution. Not unless assured that their influence over the shrine will be nonexistent after it has been built.
I hope that you will understand these concerns of mine, and that you will be diligent when dealing with the men in question.
May the grace of Torm be with you.
Respectfully, Ambrose Crownguard Paladin of the Society of the Ordered Mind
