I didn't know where to post this but I guess this thread will do fine.
Me and my swedish friend experience some really annoying -heavy- lagging everytime we log in on EFU. It all started today for us but when we speak with our fellow EFU:rians none of them have the same problems. Another funny thing is that it is only the EFU server that works bad for us. We've tested to play on some other servers without any problems. Have you any idea of what might have happened and are there other players that have noticed the same thing? The situation is so bad that you can't play on the server. -My- computer also dies now when I am in nwn. Pherhaps it is the new updates for windows that screws up everything. I believe some updates got installed earlier today...
Grateful for answers

*sighs* computers. Worked all day with the problem and found out the fan to the graphic card wobbled, and because of that it couldn't chill the card enough. That explains why my computer died all the time.
I can't really explain why my ping to EFU was so darn high all the time though. I hope that it will fix itself tomorrow =P
I guess I will be back online again tomorrow with some luck. And for your information the -rothes- like Ectovale and I know at least one "dog" that liked Ned very much... a little bit to much. May he rest in peace...

Greetings Swedes,
One thing to consider is how many folk are on and whether there is a DM event occurring. If 20 people are in one place and major things are happening then lag builds. Often I hear shouts to close maps or other features to help reduce the overall lag.
Hope your PC issues don't slow you down.

yeah I am well aware of that, that was what I first thought the reason was. But when I asked the other players online I noticed that me and my other swedish friend were the only victims of the extreme lag =P
I talked with my friend later this evening and he said that it worked well for him again. Maybe it was our supplier that had some problems but the strange thing was that it went fine on other servers. Still can't figure out what the problem was.

I must turn to you again in a desperate cry for help. The ping to EFU is still super high. I made hundreds of experiments including re-installing nwn, tested different accounts, different keys etc but nothing works. It seems like the server has some problem with my computer only. Do any of you have any idea of what the problem might be? Can you DMs check my account stats if there exist something like that? Thanks in advance

There was/is routing issues as I suffered from heavy packet loss, not high ping though. It seemed to have been fixed by late Saturday evening, but I have not tried the connection today.
I presume it will be fixed once someone somewhere fixes the hub/server that our connection goes trough. It is not something that EFU server admin can do anything about, if it was directly related to the server all would be lagging the same way.
Our ISPs might able to do something about it (route traffic differently), but I do not think it is the worth the effort of contacting them unless this keeps going on for a longer period of time. They could even make it worse with some bad luck.

I can verify the packet loss is back for me.
If people wish to verify where the connection loss happens, I would recommend easy program called UOtrace. Which can be acquired from Electronic Art's server.
http://support.uo.com/latency.html
Or directly:
ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/origin/patches/uo/uotrace.exe
Just have efu.us.to as address and do a trace route and then poll of maybe 30 times. It should reveal where the worst losses happen. I would not post publicly the first set of IPs as it is your own.

And again it seems packet loss does vanish late night. Less trafic probably.

I think you were right Wyric. I logged in one late night here and I had no problem at all. Then the next day it was all back. But today it seems like it works fine again, finally, after three days. Thanks for your answers, I appreciate it.

I fear there isn't much we can do about this server-side.
Good luck though!
