A new forum for applications

Can we get a forum for applications? I am kinda getting tired of waiting for the dms ((NO OFFENSE)) To make a decision and, the last application I made got a quick denial since they considered it over powered ((What is powerful about an mindflayer?, please don't answer)) And I just learned that IRC has a forum for applications. Just to be fair to players who don't have IRC (Like me, and I don't wish to be bothered getting it truthfully,)) this will make our lives easiar and the dms don't have to put up with me E-mailing them and bothering them while they are trying to make some fun for our group.

This will help by: players can see how there applications are turning out and know why the dms are denying +rejecting them.((Don't hold back!)) 2: It will allow players to tell the dms they aborted the idea, like I had to do once. 3: It will allow other players to see how applications are made properly ((Truthfully, I would like some example applications posted even if this gets a big no, so that players know how they are made, not the why I want this why kinda things)) 4: I would like to see how the dms approve the application 1st hand, do they just say yay or nay? Or do the give reasons to there fellow dms?

So what happens when everybody and their grandmother sees everybody else's character histories, goals, secrets, and spoilers?

No. I don't think I want the entire playerbase to know the intricate details of my character's childhood just because you're too lazy to go get IRC. (Which takes about 10 minutes, by the way.)

We do have a forum for applications! It's just not viewable by players, for the reasons Kotenku mentioned.

Also, if you don't have IRC, you can get in touch with us through e-mail.

And application approval happens in one of the most used way: Talking.

- Do you like it? - What's good on it and what's not? - Is it feasible, can it be done for real? - Will it be fun for other players? - Is player able to go through it? Will he get bored/ perhaps abuse the power given?

I'd imagine you would review any idea on similar ways. You think of the server in general, players and other people. You think of the general world behind it.

Some races, like illithid, are not for players in my opinion. Hell, they control minds. Everyone is afraid of them in general, they are not allowed in town. Hell, I say the player would be either very bored, killed as soon as possible, or just too overpowering in IC and RP manners, that no one would have any fum.

Just my opinions.

I can't get into IRC while at dorms (so even if I want, I just can't), and still don't think it would be good. However, a forums with good/bad applications, which cannot be spoilerous anymore.

A fast way to get a no/yes answer might be convenient too, but I don't think it deserves a full forum for it.

IRC takes less than ten minutes to get. And it's easy. I recommend mIRC. More info is around on it.

Let's be really honest now. If you're too lazy to dowload a program that will help you create a great application and earn it, then what does that say about your willingness to follow through with an approved concept?

I don't know why so many people resist getting IRC so much, perhaps they simply don't realize how much easier it makes EfU to play. I resisted at one point too, just as a side note.

I double read it, after Garem's reply, I meant, the *forum* won't be good.

IRC (mIRC for the case) is awesome, and when I back hope I log it on a regular basis as long as my laptop is connected to the internet!

We don't approve or reject apps on IRC (although we relay our decisions on it sometimes), it's just to discuss concepts and give pointers. Not being very strong with apps, myself, I avoid the #efuapps room. >_>

Edited for horrible spelling error.

I tell people's responses to apps on IRC all the time >_>

It's worth noting that it's practically impossible for us to get back to everyone who sends us an app in a timely manner, the best way to get a prompt response is to ask us and check regularly (either through IRC or e-mail).

Can you at least post some non spoiliferic applications for us crappy application writers to use? Just so we have a guide line.

Truth is, when I send an application, I'm anxious to know whether it was good enough or not, and when want to ask about it, it makes me think about all the applications which were sent, email waiting etc.

I sometimes sending an email to know about the application feels a bit nudging.

Point is, even if you send a crappy application--the DMs here say, hey this is what you need to consider. Even when they say no. Take the advice.

I've yet to have a single application approved on the first try. This includes a situation where Howland said "Hey, why don't you apply for XXX". Then I got told, "Yeah, we're not going with your application because YYY."

So I resubmitted it to address YYY. Then I got approved...sort of. Apparently, part of the application still wasn't fully approved and I only got half of what I was asking for actually. Then I had to spend a month "earning it in game" and then had to send a third application.

That application also had some trouble issues, so then I needed to ship off a fourth application.

In other words, application writing is an art. Its not a science. You could have a billion applications to look over and still get rejected every time unless you work with the DMs.

It is not a process of "apply and wait" its a process of "apply, lobby, discuss, negotiate, reapply, renegotiate, and get approved". At least, for the kinds of things I like to apply for at least.

I've seen servers where they do have their app forum viewable to the public. Personally I don't think its really good and really lowers the SUPRISE I'm a *insert really cool thing here*!!! factor

I mean...hrm...I never asked a dm why it was rejected...hrm...but I would still like a few sample application addressing prestige classes, sub-races, and other special concepts.

This is definitely something we've been considering doing.

Feel free to show mine. I know they both got approved, so they can't suck that badly.

I'd be happy to contribute to an effort like that!
