Sounds to me like you're worrying OOCly about IC events.

Deal with this in game. Just don't metagame, think about what your characters actually see or don't see - and never, ever assume that combat is the only outcome of any interaction with NPC's that DM's might spawn, as assault isn't always the best option.

Having finished playing a Drow character relatively recently, I can tell you the vast majority of players would be more than happy to kill you.

Also, I've had wild elves before that players thought were drow just because they had dark brown skin (which is appropriate for a wild elf.) Don't know if that's the case here.

In real life, it would be easy to see the difference. Drow have pale color eyes, and are ebony/obsidian skinned, not merely dark brown. A player shouldn't assume "drow" just because an elf avatar on the screen has darker skin and light colored hair. (An older wild elf could have white hair.)
