Objective: The ability to construct and animate a shell with superior abilitys to the living counterpart.

Theories:

Increasing the strength of the bones may increase the shells ability to work and suffer less through the effects of fatigue.

Basic enhancement spells may increase shells abilitys to perform in varying areas. *an arrow pointing to a small sentence* Will shell accept and bear enhancements like living counterpart? *A short note next to it* Proven correct

Shell's abilitys may increase with increasing amounts of negative energy infused into it. *a arrow pointing to a small sentence that is circled multiple times* Prepare for possible negative side effects. Figure how to infuse a significant amount more of negative energy into shell without causing possible negative side effects.

The shell requires the same amount of negative energy to function and behave properly as it needs positive energy in life *an arrow pointing to another small note* Needs further experimentation

Possible test subjects:

Rothe Goblinkin Humanoids Deep lizard

Experiment one:

Specimen: Corpse of a deep rothe (Dead for at least 5 days)

Objective: Attempt to increase shells ability to hold heavy objects and move with increased dexterity.

Method: Animate corpse with medium amount of negative energy, attempt to enhance rothes strength and dexterity.

Result: Rothe animated sucessfully, was able to understand basic commands with time. Rothe could carry table on back with significant energy involved. After spell enhancement could carry table with minute traces of energy. Rothes ability to move less than average before enhancement. After enhancement movement was significantly increased to more than average. I then Removed enhancements from the shell and the specimen fell inaminate

Conclusions: Shell is able to bear ability enhancing spells.

Suggestions for next experiment:

Pit animated specimen against living counterpart with enhanced abilitys.

Attempt to increase specimens intellectual capacity using spells

Give shell extra burst of negative energy before removing enhancements to attempt to ensure shells survival.

Overall opinion: Partial success. ALOT more research and experiment required before thinking about engaging enemy. Constant supply of shells still need to be seeked

Experiment two:

Specimen: Corpse of a Deep Lizard (amount of time dead is unknown)

Objective: Attempt to control Deep Lizard behaviour and actions whilst sustaining animation period for as long as possible. Test shell in battle against denizens of the underdark.

Method: Animate corpse with rest of negative energy in staff (rough estimate of power contained in staff equivilent to 3 times the power needed in experiment one) enhance shells Strength and Dexterity

Result: Deep lizard animated with little difficulty, mind seemed more keen than previous subject and was able to grasp basic commands quickly (almost like a new born). Lizard pocessed immense strength and speed regardless of condition, was further improved to what I could compare the strength and dexterity to three average common folk.

Tests in combat conducted against 6 small beholder kin and a Deep malar beast. Came out with minimal wounds sustained. Disease clings to it fetid skin like I cling onto sanity, Such a tool must not be overlooked. Lizard finally deanimated at roughly two hours since first animation.

Conclusion: A corpse requires the same amount of negative energy to function as its living counterpart requires positive energy.

Attempt to increase specimens intellectual capacity using spells

Conduct experimentation on humanoids

Overall opinion: Success. The beast is a natural killing machine and with the benefits of undeath and the arcane. It's natural instinct to kill can be brought to new heights. Must now attempt to animate multiple corpses whilst researching new ways to enforce shells abilitys. May take months more work before I can attempt to animate shells that are battle worthy against enemy but revenge is most sweet when you have waited for it for so long.
