[this report has been sent to the Tigereye Mercenaries, the Spellguard and the Watch]
- I, Ambrose Crownguard, wish to make report of something that took place in lower Sanctuary on this day, the 8th of Uktar, involving the negligence of duty and misconduct of a Tigereye mercenary and the crimes of a cyricist.
As my associate and I were passing by the Pissing Crone, a man unknown to us approached. While giving praise to Cyric, the deceptive god of murder, he assaulted us with an arcane spell which we were able to withstand the effects of. I gave chase to the criminal as he tried to get away and was able to halt his escape by striking him in the head with the blunt side of my sword. The next moment I found myself being incapacitated by one of the mercenaries of the Tigereyes who had witnessed the assault. He defended the cyricist criminal, saying that his crimes "weren't such a big deal” and that the pain the criminal suffered as I incapacitated him was punishment enough. Being in lower Sanctuary and not being an officer of the law myself I had little choice but to accept his judgement and be on my way.
Clearly this was negligence of duty as two rules of Sanctuary were broken; an unprovoked attack was made on two citizens of Sanctuary and magic was used in an unwarded area. The mercenary stated that his name was “Patrick”, and referred to the criminal as “Crazy Andy”, who was hooded and clad in blue and beige clothing, then later seen in pink clothing outside the town hall.
About half an hour after the first incident had taken place, as we again passed through the streets of lower Sanctuary, I heard and felt something apparently cloaked by magic brush past me in a hurry headed for the mercenary called Patrick. The invisible man was revealed to be “Crazy Andy” as he attacked Patrick with his weapon, knocking him down on the ground. Upon seeing this I came to the aid of the mercenary, again seeking to prevent the criminal's attempt to escape as the mercenary was unable to do so himself. As I did this, the mercenary got back on his feet and once again sought to incapacitate me. I withstood the attempt and questioned his actions, then was told that they were merely “fooling around”, playing games with eachothers or somesuch.
This is unacceptable and unprofessional conduct for a hired guardsman of the city - the Tigereyes should not be allowed to bend and ignore the rules of Sanctuary as it suits them. I would like to see this cyricist criminal apprehended and made responsible for his crimes.
It should be noted that I did not seek to take justice into my own hands, but merely to incapacitate the criminal until the mercenary would have been able to apprehend him, as is his duty and what he is paid to do.
Sincerely, Ambrose Crownguard Paladin of the Society of the Ordered Mind
