What creature or sentient being, native to any segment of the underdark, do you think is the most deadly?
Personally I think beholders are because they have psionic attack, they can fly and escape from or entrance to one of their cities would be hard due to the vertical layout of said city would make it impossible.

What's under those robes anyway?

Shrieker.
Sure, all mushrooms look somewhat cute, but when you are sneaking in dark caverns with all kinds of horrors and monsters, you do not want to step on something which screams loudly, as it tends to attract those monsters' attention towards you.
Or that's what I'd imagine what would be the top most thing to worry about if I really got lost in underdark...

Mind Flayers also Mindflayers can fly. They have spell like psionic power levitate. So teachnacly they could fly but because bioware didnt implement flying they cant in NWN.

Beholders are scary. But so are Bodaks. Would'nt mess with one of those unless I was sure I could knock it down first time quickly

Scariest creature? Has to be an ex girlfriend....
oh-- wait-- ingame-- right right... (yes-- ex girlfriend was a drow)
Well... there was this dragon that killed four of us in one round... thats pretty scary.
But as for "non- unique" bad guys, I have to say Mind Flayers.
The idea of something eating your brain while you are still awake and aware... gives me the chills.

I would have to say for creatures that are seen on a fairly regular basis is the Deep Malar Beast. I have seen that thing kill plenty of people solo. It also can take apart a group if it doesnt have enough warriors. But on terms of overall creature, whether regularly faced, Mindflayers have it.

Beholders. I have seen the floating eyes drop 8th level characters in one round. Death ray is nasty!

Individually, mind flayers. Drow wizards come close, partially because none of my wizards ever prepare dispell. Just about everything out there is scary.

Undead exploding, ((Took out 5 people!))
Heh, so does the goblins... Only that rogues are neat enough to have high reflex and evasion, gives them the no-damage on save.
Heh, Amy had her time when goblins came to her, exploded and died.
She blinked at them, not sure what the hell just happened.
As for most scary creatures, what about lich? Now think about drow-lich. I think it's the scariest.
