[letter for Ix at the Spellguard Tower]

Lady de Ferret,

Pardon my possible agrievance of misspelling your name, I'm afraid I've never seen it written.

Only now looking back I see what a great loss was suffered today at the death of Micky. He was obviously very learned about the ruins of the Dunwarren Main. I can only hope he has passed some of this knowledge back to us posthumously through literature.

As tragic as his death was though, I should proceed with my intent for this letter. As I briefly mentioned, I am, and have for quite some time, been quite fascinated with the svirfneblin machinery, particularly the mobile animatrons. While my field experience with working animatrons is limited, I have studied them as a passing hobby since childhood. As I also mentioned, I have spoken a few times with the esteemed animators of the Spellguard, and they have been rather accepting of my interest. Yet I digress.

I have reached the point where I can no longer learn by simply reading and peeking around the animatrons about the city, and those I knock down in the ruins. If you would grace me so, might we chat sometime about these wonderful machines? I have a fine bottle of cerise red that I'd be more than happy to share, and I am a great fan of the Last Stand's cuisine. Thank you, and I do hope you find my offer acceptable.

Also, I am beginning to worry about the city's attitude towards these grand ruins. They should be a revered archeological workplace, not a bandit's haven. With such a great reliance on the machines, perhaps it is time for some protective laws to be put into place; do not mistake me, restricting access would be very agitating to the small but active community of Dunwarren scholars, but perhaps some sort of traveler's protection. But wiser minds should consider this, I fear I may have overstepped my expertise.

I hope to meet you again soon. A reply may be sent to my residence here in the city or left at the Last Stand.

Brace Durain, Oghman Student of Dunwarren
