druid power

I have noticed, that few people jump into the Druid class on this server. I fact i would say druid is one of the least played classes on any server. What i mean to show here, is that druids can be a fun and rewarding class to play on EfU. In addition i would like to encourage anyone who does want to make a druid to join us in the Wards of Aeon, join us in building a powerful druidic circle for some Underdark stompin' good times!

Now right off the bat, you may say that the Underdark is a crappy place to play a druid. Theres no trees, no nifty grove to defend, loads of lifeless rock everywhere, and no trees (yes, repeated for effect). On the contrary, nothing could be further from the truth. Sure a traditional druid might be lost and rather depressed down here (again, the lack of trees), but not all druid are born to be arborists.

Playing a druid in the Underdark can easily suggest some very interesting alternate concepts to the 'traditional druid”. One example is my own druid, who is dwarven and has lived in the Underdark his whole life, he likes bugs and spiders. The potential for roleplay is unlimited and all you have to do is look around and its easy to see there are many ways to play a druid. I've even heard stories of ancient Svirfneblin druids. Some folks may become druids after finding their calling down here, and so their training would be adapted to this dark world.

Also, some of you may not realize how much LOVE the dm's have given the druids(rangers and other classes too!). They have special summoning themes adapted to the Underdark which better reflect the types of creatures you would find down here. They also have special wildshapes, in fact there are quite a few of them and some have some very interesting special abilities. I wont say what they are, I leave that for you to find out in-game. They get tracking like rangers, though not quite as effective. Also, druids are stealth masters and of all classes can sneak around in the wilds very well with little or no skill point investment. This ability alone is quite attractive, seeing the far reaches of the server is hard without some serious sneak.

Theres more too, druids are very powerful when you learn to use their abilities. I would wager that you could take nothing but druids to most if not all the scripted quests and handle them in style. A druid is adaptable, she can fill whatever role needed.

A druidic circle down here has a lot of story to dig its teeth into. Theres all sorts of things that are messing up the balance in the underdark. Think about these things, and if your looking to create a new character, try a druid and look me up ingame. Together we could build a mighty druidic circle to rival the other factions and create some rip roarin' fun for all! Also, dont hesitate to contact me personally if you would like to talk about your character/concept. I would be more than happy to help anyone interested.

agreed

I have a druid of Ubtao who is naked with a quarterstaff and all she does is Hiss and Growl

I believe the reason numerous people have shied away from Druids are for one simple fact:

Underdark is serious business. (much like the internet).

Underdark is a horribly dangerous, deadly, confusing, and scary place. This is portrayed by the fact that walking out of the sanctuary gate can get you ambushed by umberhulks in the mines, or hunting spiders on the roads.

As much as I hate to admit, currently playing a ranger, there is little in terms of an "out of Sanctuary" society. I encounter the occasional traveler, but on majority I find myself facing nothing but spawn after spawn that I sneak past, quickly returning to the city to RP with people.

YES! exactly my point, and i would say that with other roleplaying "tools" such as this forum and tell in-game, its not impossible to meet the "out-of-town" players. Of course, if you just go walk, the sheer lack of people out there will much lessen your chance of bumping into someone. Even if you did they would be stealthed more than likely.

BUt trust in that if a group existed out there and used the forums as they are inteded, they could easily have enough to roleplay with. Its just a matter of being willing to do the walking, and believe me, theres enough cool stuff out there to make exploring fun for a good long time.

One of the more encounters, that I faced, is finding a ranger/druids out there. I think it leads to cool RP, and the long we have them, the cooler it is.

He speaks but does nothing you think? I'm about to join the druidic prelude, I created a ranger for the striding of the underdark, and even my (so far) main character strides the underdark.

I think the underdark holds cool secrets, which just wait for us to discover. In fact, the more people will search probably the more cool places will be found as well as new places placed within.

Druids and rangers are one of the stronger classes, and I've seen a druid frontlines and does it good. But more then that, the RP which comes with it is way awesome :) alogen

Druids & Rangers rock, they really, really, really do.

Only reason I've tended not to play them much on EfU is because they were my staple diet on other servers and in ages-ago pen-and-paper groups I was involved in.

I'm skeptical of whether there's an inherent reason people would avoid playing one on EfU. I can't think of anything on the server that would discourage me from creating one moreso than any other setting I've been involved.

There are some druidic types which are optimal for the Sanctuary setting. Look around in some of the FRCS lore, or better yet, meet mine in-game.

I am hoping to start a new druid character, but I have never done a prelude so am trying to wait until the druid prelude happens so I can experience one.

So, hopefully soon.

This has not only helped convince me to return to EfU, but to also try my hand at a druid. Hope to see you all IG.

nice! i will be ingame most evening this week (PST)

Even when I do see people in the Underdark, I am stealthed. Unless I know them, more than likely I will simply follow them and ensure they don't get into more trouble than they can handle, revealing myself only then. It feels more rangerish to me, but it sure does stick a fork in my chances of RPing with most people in the Underdark. Sometimes you gotta make sacrifices.

Speaking from experience, ranger have weaknesses. I'm still learning how to overcome them. But they also have amazing strengths. I thought I was going to be rolling up a gimp, and it turned into a pimp.

Part of the whole reason I decided to pick a ranger, is because I hadn't logged on and seen a ranger on the player list in ages. That's part of what makes rangers fun to me, the rarity of them.
