Underwater NPC's

I encountered an Elite Gnoll underwater today, where the sunken drow ship is. Not sure how he got there, but he seemed not to be susceptible to drowning. Shouldn't NPC's run the same risk of drowning if underwater for X rounds, as PC's do?

Some NPCs do, some don't. We're not interested in players being able to lure creatures to underwater zones only to have drowning kill them, and there are also some things that we want to have underwater, like a quest enemy, that shouldn't just die for no reason (attempts are made though for their breathing to make sense).

You could have submarinal gnolls that have a bladder of air strapped to their back?

You didn't drown fighting it...doesn't that imply that it might have not drowned in the same way you didn't drown?

I had to leave underwater... the gnoll didn't.

Makes sense. I wasn't complaining, so much as I thought perhaps this was something that had been overlooked. Once again, the foresight of EfU DM's amazes me... :P
