Killing the Boss...

On many quests, if the boss is killed via summons or such, the quest can't be closed properly without DM intervention. Is this intentional, or is it a bug which can't be fixed?

In the past 24 hours, I've been on 4 quests that could not be closed due to player's summons, animal companion, catapult ammo, etc, killing the "boss".

It really discourages the use of non-melee tactics and summoners.

I think you should post this in the 'bugs' section. I think part of the reason this is, is because the summons, technically aren't added to the quest via the questsys. Much the same way NPC's don't count nor do PC's that join the adventure troupe but are ported into the quest area via a DM.

And though I know little about NWN scripting....I have a feeling there is no easy way to allow a boss killed by a summon to trigger the 'quest end' trigger for the journal entry/xp/quest-giver convo.

There's a really easy way.

okay....consider me wrong then.

I thought this was fixed for most of the cases you mentioned! Arg.

It's definitely not intentional. It is a residual bug in our quest system, though I thought I had fixed it months ago.

The two quests where I regularly see problems are the Dunwarren Staircase, and the Rat Barricade. I do not recall where (if) I've seen it beyond that.

I encountered similar problem at Zurkwood factory quest.
