Esteemed Sheriff,
I have sent a formal request to the Council to act as an Ambassador on behalf of Sanctuary in the dispute with the Tribe of the Blade. I feel I am qualified for such a position due to my time spent with them and my respect for their customs and traditions. I have an open-ended invitation to visit their camp at any time.
Until such a time that the Council recognizes my status legally, however, I am taking it upon myself to act as an informal Ambassador on behalf of the city. I will retain this status until the Council appoints another in my stead, or gives me formal recognition as such. I would like to request a meeting with you on this matter, as well as any other matters you wish to speak with me on.
Until we can meet to discuss things in person, I would respectfully request that you do not make further public announcements against the Tribe of the Blade or have them killed for entering the city. I have requested the Council to give you the right to arrest any Tribesman found within the city, to both question and fine - at your discretion - and I have informed the Tribe of the Blade that they are to remain at their camp until further notice.
I understand your anger - and you have a right to it. I am in support of the actions you have taken thus far to protect the city, but believe that if you are not careful that the methods which you use shall come back to haunt you in the near future. As you know, a new Council shall be selected and many individuals who could potentially sit upon it do not look favorably upon the Watch or yourself.
I have requested to be made Ambassador to prevent just such individuals from having the position. I will strive to represent your position to the Council, but request that you do not make the job harder than necessary. Do what you must to protect the city, but do not do so in a way that will cause yourself or the Watch difficulties down the road.
We currently have two courses of action. First, we could assault the Tribe at their camp resulting in bloodshed for both sides. Many lives of the Watch would needlessly be lost, and that is something I know you do not desire, as it would weaken our already weakened city. Second, we could seek a diplomatic course to bring about a peaceful resolution suitable to both sides. This should be our desired course of action.
If you have proof against the Tribe of the Blade, hard evidence, I request to be notified of it. If the Tribe of the Blade has indeed committed crimes against the city, then it is imperative that those responsible suffer the consequences. I give you my word that I shall do my utmost to ensure that any wrong made against the city shall be put right.
I look forward to our meeting.
Respectfully Signed,
Lord Delorin Drake
