Letter to Hariani Mirfeil

[The letter is obviously written by someone who has a steady and well-focused hand. The strokes are bold, and the style seems to be written to impress while at the same time be highly readable.]

To the utterly fabulous Harani Marfeil,

As promised here is the contract. Simply sign it and leave it for me at the Last Stand.

[On a separate sheet of parchment...]

The signatory of this contract agrees that all terms listed herein are acceptable, and that all duties listed herein shall be followed.

HOW THE EVENT WORKS

The event is known as a raffle. Each participant must select four numbers between one and twenty. These four numbers comprise a single ticket. Multiple tickets may be purchased, with different numbers for each ticket.

The tickets are sold for fifteen gold individually, or purchased in a bulk discount in groups of ten for one-hundred gold per ten tickets.

DUTIES

The signatory of this contract shall be required to seek out individuals willing to participate in Lord Delorin Drake's charity raffle event, in order to raise funds to improve the defense of Sanctuary.

Upon finding individuals, the signatory will record their name, the number of tickets purchased and the amount of gold given. The signatory will also inquire if the individual wishes to select their own numbers, and if so the signatory will direct that individual to send a letter to Lord Delorin Drake at the Last Stand containing their numbers.

Following the above, the signatory will then report all relevant information to Lord Delorin Drake in a prompt manor, and ensure that all coin gathered is given over to his care.

PAYMENT

Payment shall be granted upon the time the signatory hands over the coin and completes all of the listed duties. Should the signatory fail in the listed duties, or provide unsatisfactory service payment shall be forfeit.

The amount of payment will be entirely based upon the amount of coin raised - up to a maximum of ten percent (10%) of the coin.

Thank you for your assistance. If all goes well, I can foresee us working together on many other projects in the future.

Joyfully Signed, Lord Delorin Drake Uktar 28, Year 151 (The name is written in a flowery script, and below the name and date is a stamp of some sort, appearing to be made from wax and pressed with a ring.)

Eminent and Spectacular Lord Delorin Drake,

I find your contract almost entirely well-worded and to my liking! Unfortunately, however, there is no minimum listed for my payment, and certainly this is a mere oversight of one of your servants, but I do believe that this would allow me to be paid nothing whatsoever for my thorough and spectacular services. Obviously this was not your intention! But still it would be most pleasant and well-received were at least some sort of minimum percentile introduced. Shall we say six percent to ten percent of the total amount raised, at your discretion, depending on the level of my incredible success? You might also set an expected amount to be raised, under which no payment whatsoever will be rendered, if it pleases you.

Also, it would help me greatly in the sales of these tickets if the prize of the raffle were more clear.

With great diligence and supreme confidence,

Hariani Mirfeil Hariani's Magnificent Mercantile

[The letter is obviously written by someone who has a steady and well-focused hand. The strokes are bold, and the style seems to be written to impress while at the same time be highly readable. The letter arrives with a new version of the contract.]

Renowned and Dazzling Harani Marfeil,

I do believe the terms were both fair and clear, but I do recognize your concerns. To that end I will remedy the problem by sending you a new contract. I do hope, when you next write me, I will receive a signed version. As you know time is wasting, and each second lost is an opportunity that is squandered.

Half of all funds raised in the raffle go directly to the Watch, and shall be handed over personally by Lord Delorin Drake to Sheriff Fawkes.

If an individual wins the raffle, the other half of the funds shall go to that individual. If there are no winners of the raffle then another raffle shall be held, again for a worthy caused yet-to-be-determined by Lord Delorin Drake. The jackpot from this raffle shall be added to the next.

The winning numbers shall be selected, publicly, by the rolling of a single twenty-sided die. The die will be rolled four times, to select four individual numbers between one and twenty. If any purchased ticket contains those four numbers, in any order, that ticket shall be declared the winner.

Lord Delorin Drake shall possess copies of all tickets sold in order to verify the winner; he also shall sign each ticket with his name to ensure that it is a valid entry into the raffle.

Each ticket sold is valid only for a single drawing, not multiple drawings. If an individual wishes to participate in the next drawing they will have to purchase more tickets.

The winning numbers shall be drawn after a tournament event, which will take place at the place known as the Pissing Crone. The date chosen for the event is Nightal 3, Year 151 ((March 18th at 12AM GMT / 7PM EST)).

PAYMENT

Payment to the signatory shall be 10% of the amount of coin the signatory raises, to a minimum to 250 gold coins. The payment is attached to the following stipulations:

1) The signatory must provide a satisfactory service. As an employee of Lord Delorin Drake the signatory shall strive, to the utmost of his ability, to ensure that his instructions are carried out to the letter.

2) The signatory shall raise a minimum of 5,000 gold coins in ticket sales, with no maximum amount set. If the signatory raises more than the minimum amount, he shall be rewarded a bonus of 250 gold coins on top of the 10% earned.

Payment shall be granted at the time the signatory hands over the coin and completes all listed duties. Should the signatory fail in any of the listed duties, or in any of the above stipulations, payment shall be forfeit.

I do hope the contract is more agreeable. I have ensured that it is expanded on all fronts, and each of your concerns addressed. I do believe that this contract is both fair, and more importantly, based entirely upon your performance.

Joyfully Signed, Lord Delorin Drake Uktar 28, Year 151 (The name is written in a flowery script, and below the name and date is a stamp of some sort, appearing to be made from wax and pressed with a ring.)

Esteemed and spectacular Lord Delorin Drake,

Enclosed, I hope you will be pleased to find the signed contract. 5000 gold will be a great deal to raise, but I am a man who is up to the challenge! Also, in a previous letter you indicated that they should send you a letter with their number selections. Are you certain you do not wish me to take those as well, along with payment and receipt, to make the process a great deal easier for you? I will not hesitate to begin this work immediately, regardless of your response, acting as I have already been instructed, unless I should receive word to act otherwise.

Expectantly and Excitedly,

Hariani Mirfeil Hariani's Magnificent Mercantile Services

Most Excellent Lord Drake,

Another quick question I have been asked a dozen times! Must the ticket buyer be present to win? I think that many more tickets would be sold were it not required that they be present, as the sorts of people with a great deal of money to buy tickets are oftentimes quite busy! The decision is, of course, entirely yours! I still await word on whether you would like me to take down their numbered selections also.

Hastily but Respectfully,

Hariani Mirfeil Hariani's Magnificent Mercantile Services

[The letter is obviously written by someone who has a steady and well-focused hand. The strokes are bold, and the style seems to be written to impress while at the same time be highly readable.]

Cosmically Extravagant Hariani Mirfeil,

I am quite certain. Simply have them send their numbers to me in a letter, and if they do not wish to select their own numbers - only one individual has so far - I will personally select them. To ensure all tickets are valid, I must create them and have them signed, and then sent to the buyer.

To answer your other question, they do not need to be present, but if they are they will be able to collect their prize as soon as I validate their ticket. If they are not present I will send them a letter informing them of their victory.

Joyfully Signed, Lord Delorin Drake Uktar 29, Year 151
