To any who will hear my pain,

I returned home from some errands today and discovered a scene of tremendous pain and horror, and I only ask that someone out there help me catch who was responsible.

My name is Burton Alders. I had a wife named Ella Alders, and a son named Johnny Alders.

I returned home to find both murdered, their heads severed. Their heads had been [the handwriting seems even more shaky here] placed on a table, the lips changed into a ghastly smile.

The letter "B" had been drawn in blood.

My small house is in Lower Sanctuary. Unable to face what I saw within, I have fled and written this letter... the scene may remain the same even now.

Everything of true value has been taken from me. To whoever catches the culprit of this foul misdeed, I offer my savings of 834 gold coins. I will also give you my grandfather's lucky amulet.

I have nothing left but pain.
