[On this letter, besides the flourished handwriting, the Spellguard insignia can be seen on the lower right corner.]
Highly esteemed members of the Sanctuary council,
I wished to express my condolences for what happened to the most honorable Councillor Demetrius Bhast; and I am very glad to hear his condition could be changed to the better. However, to prevent such incidents in the future I would like to suggest precautions for trials or even stonings involving convicts that are known to be magically inclined. I would propose to have whenever possible a Spellguard Agent attend those events who is capable of counterspelling, to keep watch and contain the magical abilities of the criminals for the whole duration of their trial/stoning. If this could be made official I am certain my order would be more than willing to help out with this to keep our city more safe. It is not reliable to just tie their hands, however, since some may have perfected their Art to such great extent that it allows them to cast only with the respective verbal components. Priving them from their means of voicing their opinions, on the other hand, would render a trial quite useless too.
I believe it is better to be safe than sorry.
I thank you for reading this and would be delighted to receive your reply to my concerns on this matter.
Yours in service,
Agent Alistra Marwolaeth
