Sanctuary Charity Event: Arena Tournament and Raffle

Great Citizens of Sanctuary! For far too long have the defenses of our city been lax. We are faced with many threats, both inside and outside of our walls. For far too long has the defense of our city been under funded - but no longer!

On the Dark of Uktar 27 you can make a difference. First, you will be treated to a raffle event that is currently taking place and then to draw the winning numbers of that raffle you will be treated to a tournament of arena combat!

The tickets for the raffle may be purchased from Delorin Drake, and they must be purchased before the arena tournament begins! Seek him out, good citizen! Seek him out!

OOC INFORMATION

This event will be held on March 11th at 7PM EST (12 AM GMT). You can sign up for the tournament by posting here or finding Delorin Drake in game.

To join the tournament I will require your classes and levels so that you can be paired against someone else. The tournament is no longer to the death. The use of consumables is still being debated but seems unlikely. However, your full character powers will be allowed and any arcane or supernatural abilities that they possess may be used.

To purchase a raffle ticket YOU MUST PURCHASE ONE BEFORE THE START OF THE TOURNAMENT. Each ticket costs 15 gold each, but if you buy in groups of ten they only cost 100 gold each. (Example: 10 tickets cost 100 gold, 20 tickets cost 200 gold, 30 tickets cost 300 gold, etc.)

You can pick your own numbers if you like or I can choose them for you with a random number generating program. You must select four numbers between 1 and 20. Half of the funds raised in the raffle will go to various defense projects around the city and the other half will go to the winner.

More raffles will be held in the future, and if no one wins this one the jackpot will be added to the next one. The current jackpot is roughly 700 gold and it will continue to grow.

Citizens of this fine city, I have concluded that it is in the best interest of all that this event be postponed for approximately one week, in hopes that it will grant us more time to raise more funds for the cities defense. At the present time, the funds raised are underwhelming to say the least, and I believe all should take the time to consider the value that an adequate defense of our city provides us.

Without defense, we would easily be over run by Drow, Beholders, Illithids - indeed the Lower Ward was recently assaulted by Goblins. This is all because of a lack of funds. It is your duty - your duty - as a citizen to contribute what you can to this cities defense. There is no good excuse that can be given when the lives of everyone are at stake.

The Pissing Crone has been gracious to offer their Inn as a place to hold the Tournament. I would like to publicly thank them for being so kind to offer their establishment for the event.

I thank everyone who has already participated, and humbly apologize for the inconvenience. Henceforth the scheduled event shall take place on Nightal 3, Year 151 ((March 18th)) at the same time. The cities defense can only be strengthened if we all lend a hand.
