Sanctuary Charity Event: Arena Tournament and Raffle!

Found throughout both Upper and Lower Sanctuary are posters written in a steady and well-focused hand. The strokes are bold, and the style seems to be written to impress while at the same time be highly readable. There is a blank sheet of parchment placed next to the poster at both the Crone and Last Stand.

Sanctuary Charity Event: Arena Tournament and Raffle

Here ye, here ye, fine citizens of Sanctuary! I am pleased to announce a charity event to sponsor the defense of our fine city. Though I am but a recent arrival, it is evident to all with eyes that our fair cities defenses are lacking, not due to determination or skill, but due to budget.

This event shall be held for the enjoyment of the people of this great city as well as to raise coin so that we, as citizens, might sleep soundly knowing that the city is more secure.

This event has two parts. Beginning now a raffle shall be held to raise funds. Each individual may purchase a single ticket for 15 gold each. Half of the funds raised will be secured for the defense of the city and the other half will be given to the winner.

Each ticket will allow a single chance to win, with discounts for those who buy a larger amount of tickets. The winner will be proclaimed at the second part of the event, on Uktar 27 after the completion of the Arena Tournament.

The second part of the event is the Arena Tournament. Those of combat ability are encouraged to sign up! Simply head to the list at the Pissing Crone or the Last Stand and sign your name on the parchment provided. You will be paired against a person of comparable abilities and skill.

At the end of each battle the crowd shall decide if the defeated lives or dies. Yes, my friends this is a tournament to the death!* Be there! Decide the fate of those within the ring!

There shall be two parts to the tournament. In the first part each contestant shall be paired against a single equally skilled and capable opponent in their own division. There are four divisions: divine vs divine, arcane vs arcane, warrior vs warrior and stealth vs stealth.

In the second and final half of the tournament the two best and most skilled opponents from both sides shall divide into two groups. The final half shall be a four vs four group combat match with each side having a single person from each division. The winning team shall take all the spoils from the opposing team, for trinkets and coin are of no use to the dead!

~Lord Delorin Drake

* Note: Each contestant if they so choose may arrange a resurrection prior to the tournament should they lose. Any items that you have on your person belong to the victor and may be taken as they see fit in the event of your death. The manager of the tournament will in no way seek to prevent resurrections, secure bodies or items.

//OOC:

The event will be held on March 11th, 2007. Raffle tickets can be purchased at any time for 15 gold each with discounts to those who purchase them in large numbers.

To ensure that the raffle is honest and fair each player chooses four numbers between 1 and 20, and at the end of the tournament Drake will roll 1d20 in game four times, generating four completely random numbers between one and twenty. If you purchased a ticket with those four numbers, you win. The more tickets purchased the increased chances you have of winning.

If there is no winner the raffle will be held again with the gold carried over to the next raffle. (Therefore, if the prize reaches 5,000 gold that amount, plus the amount generated for the next raffle will be added together.)

A raffle will be held once per week on either Saturday or Sunday. Half of the funds generated for each individual raffle will go to various projects around the city.

If you wish to be apart of the tournament post your character name, your Game Spy ID, your characters classes and its levels here.

The rules for the tournament are simple:

1. You may use all character abilities available to you. 2. You may use any potion, scroll or wand you wish provided it can be crafted by a player. 3. Depending on the type of crowd at the event, your character could die. You are warned. 4. The final group fight is to the death, with the spoils going to the winner.

The tournament shall be held on March 11th, 2007 at 7PM EST (12AM GMT). Drake will roll the dice to determine the numbers of the raffle after the end of the tournament. The winner will be announced both at the tournament and through sending.
