I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but there seems to be too little loot for the difficulty of this quest. The best item we found was, imo, an arcane healing wand (5 charges cure serious), next best was some bastard sword with +1 massive crit/+1 discipline, and the rest was dye, one cure moderate potion, a battleaxe similar to the bastard sword, two potions of lore, one fox's cunning and about ten other items of lesser value. The gold was slightly lower than you would expect but not too low. The Groo quest in contrast gives dozens of useful potions, trinkets and flavorful items, is much easier and a 2-5 level quest. Ditto for svirfneblin power plant. It would be nice if hook horrors gets a boost to at least troglodytes-ish loot value because it really is pretty difficult and long.

I really don't think you can regularly compare quests. One of the best things about this server is the variety of difficulty/plot/reward/RP value of the various tasks. Some pay well. Some suck donkey balls. Sometimes you cruise through a simple low-level quest and a DM drops hell on you! It is all good!
While I realize there is a great deal of variety in "difficulty/plot/reward/RP value" one thing that remains constant is being rewarded for taking risks and overcoming challenges. Pretty much every quest does this just fine, except for this one which I submit, is an outlier in terms of risk/reward.
I disagree. There are quests that pay over-proportionally well while being absolutely too easy and there are quests that barely pay at all while being rock hard. This is as it should be. The harder quests are there for those who like to challenge their own skills and resourcefulness. For me, as a challenge-loving, risk-taking players, this is absolutely wonderful.
That said, I wouldn't, by and large, put Hook Horrors into the "Challenging" quest category.
I agree 100% with you that his quest needs a few more things to make it a bit more exciting. If I get around to it I'll add some new stuff.

Dagam is quite right that this quest needs better rewards - and I appreciate the suggestion, comments along the lines that getting loot isn't the primary purpose of EfU (although true) aren't really necessary in a thread of this kind, since obviously we do try to balance quests roughly in terms of risk/reward. That said, I've long been tempted to just remove this quest altogether as I don't like it very much.
