Politics in efU

I've been thinking as of late. That the fact that we have a very player powered politics system is great and allows for some very cool RP, but I feel a little disappointed that players don't bring politics into the limelight. Whenever there is an election campaigning rarely extends beyond posts on the public notices board or maybe some scribed notes dropped around town. I personally can think of a hundred different ways to make this more fun. You guys should be out kissing babys! Free beer for all at the last Stand! Handing out fliers or such! Placing political adds in your local paper, or digging up dirt on your opponents and putting that in the paper too! (*cough*). The Elections have an amazing posibility to be really enthralling and fun and all it takes is a little imagination.

Just my 2 cents anyway. (Written at 5:30AM, excuse crap grammer)

Maybe you just haven't seen it. I know the last two elections with Fryar I did a lot of campaigning IG. We had feasts, a lot of IG speeches, parties, etc. Fryar was kinda squeaky clean though, so I didn't participate so much in the dirtier aspects of politics.

I agree, though, that the more players involved in the political process in EfU, and the dirtier it becomes, the better.

Yeah, I was planning to do some stuff like that, unfortunately I need to make myself some money before I get started!

I'm not sure if this is true or not, it's just something I've never come across in particular, and that is the more cunning, and sly side of politics- I mean, I know people -must- do all of the shady deals and everything, and please correct me if I am totally wrong, but are people always being bribed or paid off, and are constant dirty deals taking place? I can imagine alot of politicians being totally two faced- where one side they would be kissing babies, and preaching the good word of freedom and all of that- and on the otherside theyre getting payoffs from gangs around Sanctuary. I'd basically like to see alot more focus on the gangster/ politician mentality- Just rather than being the evil politician guy who everyone looks at and -knows- is evil.

I haven't been around for awhile so everything I just said might totally be off.

I know nearly half the councilor candidates come to speak with the Watch and get ideas from them and what they need.

What these candidates don't do that surprises me is actually ask for the Watch's support. Which is ironic but probably IC for them. I see lots of campaigning in game.

My two cents worth of EfU politics is this…with Sanctuary barely hanging on to existence between mounting threats of invading forces, allies such as the Svirfneblin being wiped out, slaving by sinister races rampant, etc…what ever happened to the complete hatred and mistrust by the common citizen of the monstrous races that completely occupy many areas of lower? Surely most commoners would look at these races with significant mistrust and view them as a complete drain on was few resources that are left.

As such, I would like to see very chaotic vigilantly type of politics. A Politian that thinks about “circling the wagons then digging a moat around them” type of mind set. I am certain pandering to this sort of idea would surely develop votes, as well as lots of IG plots.

My two cents…

If you'd been IG instead of lurking on the forum, you might have witnessed Dugo's capaign speech at the Town Hall just now.

I've seen all of the things mentioned above IG. Assasinations, intimidation, bribery, free beer at speeches, back room deals, you name it. I guess you just weren't there to see it.
