[letter to sheriff fawkes]

Sheriff,

I, Grey Jenkins, would like to register a formal complaint against Private Blackhand. Should he be any other than a watchman I'd accuse him of assault, though in reality, many would argue he is guilty of this as well.

As you may know, I am a wizard, and often walk around with the support of my staff. While conversing with a group of three of four others near the town hall, including two other seekers, Blackhand made a comment that someone should put away their weapon. Last I remember, staves to assist in walking were not considered out of bounds for anyone, thus I assumed, of course, that he was speaking to someone else. If this policy has changed, please make it clear to the populace.

Even if it has, however, your private is walking a fine line.

While I was in the process of learning that it was indeed me that the private was speaking with, instead of explaining any new sort of ruling, he quickly bashed me with his weapon, attempting to knock me down. Another helmed private whom I do not know assisted him from behind. There are several witnesses, including some that are not Seekers, that can attest to this.

The watch has taken to beating citizens with relatively little warning? Honestly, the faith the citizenry holds in your organization is tenuous at times. Such acts are clearly not in your best interest, and such arrogance from one individual with a relatively public posting does not instill a sense of confidence in the populace. Your credibility is at stake.

I request that at the very least, Blackhand be moved to another, less visible post.

While some might wager that the private's actions are more likely due to his desire to "pick a fight" with those in the Seeker organization, I urge you to take measures to prevent such nonsensical behaviors from taking place.

We both have our duties to Sanctuary. In-fighting within plain view of a large crowd of citizens does nothing but put wedges in the cracks of our currently weak defenses. He must be reminded that his uniform does not entitle him to settle his own personal vendettas against our or any other organization. Being a public servant requires one to be above themselves, and their own interests do not come first. Those that do not strictly adhere to this ideal should perhaps not even be in uniform, but if they must be, they should not be in the public eye.

Open hostility without provocation against our members is foolhardy and a threat to the safety and security of Sanctuary.

Good luck - Grey
