more trash barrels

I guess you've all experienced unwanted loot lying around on the ground near many quest-sites. Wouldn't it be nice to have a trash barrel or firebarrel (whatever it is called) near the NPC's that hands out the quest to prevent this? I am not sure that it will help but maybe that will encourage people to throw the things in the barrel before they walk away. Opinions?

Are there any specific areas you'd like to see more trash barrels located at? As far as I know quite a few have been added, many pretty close to most scripted quests.

Perhaps for quests where the giver is in the wilds, you could make a "lava tube" or something on the ground nearby, in which you could throw things that would get instantly destroyed.

Why destroy it, then? More logic is a pit of a sort, to throw things at it. For example, a garbage pit by Hrunper, where once in a while he destroy it with acid (Each reset)

Sometimes players could use, what you'de throw or dump at grabage pile.

Not sure if there already is one or not, but if not, one in Goblin town would be dandy, especially for those of us for whom a trip to a trash can in lower is more dangerous than a hike to fort Mur for most.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually searched every inch of the place for one that might already be there, I've just not been able to find one the few times I've felt the urge to trash something with my goblin. If there's already one around, kindly ignore this, just throwing it out in case there isn't.

hmm, how about one near the stairs in Dunwarren? I often see things lying there.

Another one might be needed next to the man who hands out the troll quest. I don't think there is a trash barrel there either... I might be wrong though but I think I have looked around in the area but didn't find any...

By the trogs as well, perhaps?

If you can think of something creative, aside from just a trash bin that adds some flavor to the game world, I'd like to see that quite a bit! I agree that we could use some kind of trash device near the Kobold Priest quest, Trogs, and maybe near the gnome that hands out the troll quest. Let's see some creativity :)

Well, a hole which we could put inside stuff.

If it's logic enough, it could "fall" to another quest, thus flavoring that other quest to the next group. (If someone is there already, it would wait until they go)

Items just scattered on the ground creates lag though, Alogen, making that idea problematic.

Not on the ground, on the creatures or added to chests etc.

((Edit: Typo and or instead of /))

Other suggestions, because waste cans all over the place would break immersion for me, are:

Lava Tube (hole in the ground that leads to a pool of lava some distance below) Bottomless Crevasse Underground Spring Sewer Grate Quicksand Pit of No Return Portal to ?

Some thoughts, because I love you fools.

P

Pup Maybe small "bottomless pits" could be placed around in the wild that act just like the trash bins.

Maybe even a DM could decide that one leads to some thing's lair and it gets pissed people keep dumping junk on top of it?

Den of Immensly Rich Junk Collecting Dragon.

Throw something in, get 5gp out!

Never mind, just realised how overpowered this would be.

Buy 1000 arrows, throw them in 1 by 1, you'd get 5000 gold for spending 11 and trekking a bit.

Here's a thought...

Garbage barrels don't immediately destroy contents. Instead, a garbage-collecting troll walks around "emptying" the trash, and occassionally adds one of the trash items to his inventory. If a player engages him in dialogue, they can purchase from his inventory at a huge discount.

If players wish to ensure something is permanently destroyed, perhaps have a destructive furnace in Lower, as well as a chute in Upper that drops into that furnace.

There are plenty of ways in which you can destroy stuff permanently already, and they're relatively easy to figure out.
